quickly written and put in the save file….for later….
It was written…as so many before it….after coming upon the poster in question….returning home….and doing a Google….
obama change poster….and seeing what popped up…

Obama “Change” limited poster by Sheherd Fairey……..
could be a major additional cause for alarm to those Cubans who fear the presidential candidate…….
for it is eerily like those well-known posters of Che’!
BCbythesea has had such encounters with Cuban- Americans and others who fled communist countries…who are quietly voicing concern….as they reflect on perceived key…slogans such as “change”……that are all to familiar to what they witnessed in the past… or stories long told by their parents…
With no desire to suggest that there was any such intention to purposely provoke such comparisons……by the candidate….the poster in question… which was linked for sale to the Obama official campaign site…along with the “Obey” poster that popped up ….when a Google was entered…’Obama Change Poster” will undoubtedly increase their cause for concern.
It certainly stopped this writer in her tracks…. tonight…upon seeing it in the front window of a house by the beach in Fort Lauderdale….drawing an immediate comparison…..to Che’…
I am sure this opinion will be challenged by certain supporters as just a unique …artful …interpretive poster… by the artist….nothing more…
we shall see….

fast forward to last evening….
BCbythesesea…revealed this saved post …acknowledging the poster… without the specifics… to a faithful reader…who is also a Obama supporter…which I will now be on record as stating …I am not…..
(Full disclosure…not quite on-board with McCain …either….at this point in time….)
That old adage about politics and religion…..
a response came ……a preemptive strike of this post adding to the “thought atmosphere”…and being a party to ….the inevitable “smearing” and “swift boating” of the reader’s chosen candidate..
A second check today with the same Google jargon…brought forth a different page…that included this time….. other googles asking similar questions about this poster….including …..a link to www.npr.com
and a story posted in April by Alex Cohen…. not quite a “swift boat” site….
an interview with the artist ….. had quite an interesting lead- up to this poster’s inception….worth a read…….it also contained this info…
according to the artist…he received a call just before Super Tuesday from the Obama campaign to make and deliver it (the poster ) in his typical “GUERRILLA” fashion….
BCbythesea…. the artist intentionally fashioned this poster in this style…. the campaign knew it was intentional…… and reactions….positive or negative were fully warranted and anticipated …..
NOTE:…this reader has always sought to further inform this writer in the past…and this situation was no different… I am sure….
a second response included Obama’s stance on Cuba and the effect it might have … being geared towards younger Cubans…who might not be so entrenched in the past…and open to exchange….open to communication between countries… leading them to vote Democratic….
BCbythesea….was well aware of Obama’s views…unfortunately the people referred to in the original post…are also opposed to any such exchange….and see this as further cause for alarm….
finally…this reader ended with the suggestion that covering national politics on this site would “split” the BCbythesea readership….
