A faithful reader gave me some wise ideas and suggestions…
after reading my recent posts…my concerns about the Commission …some rumblings that the CIC membership were angry at me …which came from a “warning” I received via another member…after they were called by a high up board member of the organization…..
First it was suggested I call some CIC members … not board members…and ask a few questions…
How is the Commission is doing so far?
How do they feel about the cell phone/ins./compensation in lieu of ins./salary and benefit increases that have already been approved or in the works?
How do they feel about my site?
I carefully considered doing this….and decided against it for a few reasons…
I know how angry CIC members were with “push polls” in the past and did not want to be accused of doing one…
The election of a new board for the CIC is still ongoing and I am still Vice Chair…albeit non- participating at this point in time… so I do not feel in this position I should call non- board members…and possibly skew the election…
the other suggestions I am now going to put forth……
The present Commission should either make it a Charter Amendment or a Referendum item to vote on any salary increase or benefit additions for the next Commission only.
Although it may be legal to vote on both for themselves…
the above recommendations would show a level of government that would set a tone of propriety that would be the gold standard for other municipalities to follow.
“Perks” that have been a constant since the election were not presented during the campaign.
Many of those who in the past would not have voted this new majority in…..are concerned…and quite angry…over what they are seeing…
I have been repeatedly told this is exactly what the OG said would happen…
A change needs to happen ASAP….put the breaks on….or the voters that made the difference will swing back in 2 years…
The above ideas…from the wise reader would go a long way…. to reassure these voters they did indeed make the right choice and extend the present majority beyond this short period.

An additional story to explain to those naysayers who will blow this off…entrenched in their own little group …
their stock response will be…. we are saving millions on EMS/Fire…
a childhood remembrance that will sum it all up….
my grandfather was a successful businessman…who was fully retired at the age of 50…
he lived well, traveled th world 3 times over…and lived until he was 98…
as a child… when one of us grandchildren went to visit him…. it was his custom to give us a $10 dollar bill!
WOW….we liked that…and so did he….
but heaven help us if he caught us making a toll call…for an additional 25 cents!
