A few tips to think about…to maybe follow to save you or a friend from not only the invasive act of having your wallet lifted but not having the overwhelming cleanup involved in getting everything replaced.
When you get a new credit card…or call and order a new one….do not sign the back…write instead…check I.D.
Make a photo copy of everything you keep in your wallet…credit card case etc….both sides…of your cards…license…insurance etc….keep it in a safe location at home …to make replacement and reporting what was actually inside are faster and accurate.
Never carry anything with your social security number….keep cards separate from wallet….checks separate also…
one extra precaution…put a smaller zip style case inside your purse…even a cosmetics style bag… it should fit snuggly in the length of the outside purse…put your wallet inside…a bump and grab thief would not be able to reach it and you would definitely feel them struggling to get it out.
Underneath the inner purse/cosmetics bag…put your credit card holder and checkbook flat on the purse bottom.
Of course still carry purse close…do not leave it at a table…in a cart or hanging of your arm or shoulder when you see anyone approaching no matter how unassuming they appear.
It is said that in these times of more unemployment…these incidents will increase…
UPDATE : Our fellow resident is still in the process….of the dealing with this incident over a week after it happened to her.
