‘Tamarac art fund could be spent on fire-rescue, police’
a resident of Tamarac…Patti Lynn wrote in the following suggestion … after hearing her city manager pronounce that funds for a public art program were not going to be paid for by the taxpayers….
‘If the city of Tamarac is forcing builders, developers and contractors to pay 1% of construction value of the improvement to the art fund, I have some other ideas. Change the ordinance so the 1% goes to fire-rescue fees or police presence fees,or property tax reduction fees….’
She says this can be reallocated….that it is done all the time….and this suggestion would offer immediate relief and assistance to every resident and business in the city….
BCbythesea….does LBTS have an ordinance that forces the same…which could be used for the same purpose…fire-rescue…capital improvements…if not…why not?….
Worth investigating….hope a commissioner will put this forth tomorrow…..

‘A rubber sidewalk”… Rubbersidewalks of Gardena, California….began in 2004…more than 60 municipalities have ordered the panels….the panels do not crack….they have spaces between them for rain to escape…and are removable for roots to be re-directed…they are recycled…made of old tires…softer to walk on….more expensive than concrete initially….but just as previously posted …from the Disney Garden show…a look at the future… now…along with rubber mulch… imitation ….. not anything like astro-turf…no need for watering…good lookin…. grass exhibited… last month….
BCbythesea….as we “green” LBTS …and after the cost over-runs…and sidewalk madness endured with the Seagrape Drive Streetscape fiasco….this might be well worth the Master Steering Committee doing some research for the next projects in town.. just need a commissioner to direct them….
