small is big…that’s the new strategic line…a publisher gave the message to an online international symposium this month….came in the same form at a conference last fall in Washington…the fate of Metro newspapers is doomed…they can not connect and serve their communities as well as smaller papers…unless they act like smaller papers…Gannett has transformed 85 daily newsrooms…emphasizing local and hyperlocal news… with them websites are serving neighborhoods…called microsites……will it work?…had to do something with advertising declines…TV news will try the same …websites…for the same slivers of hyperlocal audiences…
