LBTS -VFD SEA DOO TRAINING …IN THE SWIMMING POOL…
We hear that although the correct training required by the USLA for Sea Doo Rescue Training is available…the LBTS-VFD is training in the local swimming pool…
Commissioner Dodd personally delivered the information to the VFD after he brought it to their attention last month…
What we are hearing though is the “rescuers” are being asked to tread water in the pool..while most of them are unable to swim to the buoy and back in the ocean…although they do know how to “play” on the personal watercraft…witnessed by a few readers…recently…
If true…. it is a disturbing addition to this already disturbing program….
No one has yet said how the VFD can rescue from the water on Sea Doos when they are not allowed to rescue in the water from the Beach Patrol ATVs…previously stated from Chief Perkins anytime lifeguard duties were inquired upon…
The VFD could not get liability coverage for the Public Safety Community Swimming Pool recreational program…so what is the liability to them and to the town on this new VFD “service” advertised in the local LBTS-VFD subsidized BTSTimes newspaper?…
We hear that after the Chief informed Commissioner Dodd at the podium they were “making their own” sled to attach to the Sea Doo…as it would be required to carry the vicitm on…the VFD just approved a $1500 purchase of a sled…Guess the homemade version didn’t quite work out?…
Remember Readers…this is what the current leadership of the VFD wants you all to vote for in a referendum…more such antics and questionable programs!…
Commissioner Clottey needs to push for her Lifeguard Referendum item…
more to come…
