Update…The Greenfest 2008…Charges…Go Out With A Wimper?…

November 17, 2008 by Barbara

The Time line as we now know it…

The Vice Mayor put the Greenfest event on the agenda for the Nov. 10, 2008 meeting…approximately Nov. 1st…..presumably to go after the Mayor for making it a “political” event…because of “robo-calls” that went out on behalf of th Republican party…and Senator Atwater

On the 6th of November …the Mayor had a meeting with the Town Manager…and informed her there had been donations made to the event…with funds being held in a local bank account.

The next day on the 7th…the Mayor’s former Campaign Manager sent faxes into the Manager of the donated checks…invoices…etc…and the Manager did indeed send a memo to all of the Commissioners with the information.

Some Commissioners not going in to see the Manager each day…were not in receipt of the memo until the night of the meeting.

Also some Commissioners did not “zero” in on the name of the “faxer” …the Mayor’s former campaign manager…therefore…they did not pick up on it…did not leap into attack mode…making a full throttle…”investigation”…to be all ready to pounce with an over the top… interrogation into presumptive “GOTCHA” wrongdoings…deeming them “criminal” as the Vice Mayor did!…

He must have jumped for joy upon getting that memo from the Town Manager….it was a gift from the heavens…to divert attention away from him…the VFD…an oversite committee…the Oct. 25th water rescue incident…the lack of responding to public information requests…letting him wear his “Teflon” coat for yet another commission meeting…WOW!…

BCbythesea…without legal input…from counsel…it does appear that the account was opened…the checks were made out to the Greenfest event…all were accounted for…and all were in order…including a very generous donation from the Mayor herself.

While it was not the way the Town has dealt with donations in the past…unless counsel informs the Commission…it was illegal for the former campaign manager to use the town’s tax exempt I.D. number to open the account…there was nothing nefarious..

Now back to the VFD….and answers for…all of the above…including the Town’s continued mute stance on a contracted vendor ignoring state statutes on providing public information requests….

more to come….
