A GLASS HALF FULL OF HOPE(FUL)…

As we continue with this inaugural  “Jewish Wedding”….(meaning …..a 4 day event)… of the President of the United States…this writer looks on …hoping to “toast” the future with a a glass half full of hope(ful)…That this new administration will govern with the full awareness that they represent all the people …..

On a national level, I would like to see what was lost locally in my home town……the best and brightest put in positions that bring forth innovative ideas…for progress….open and transparent government with access to information that comes to those who support the newly elected and those who do not…

I look for fairness, and honesty with putting the people first and what is going to make their lives better, to not cause them upheaval…put constraints on them that keep them achieving the American dream in opportunities found through hard work, business and commerce…

A government that realizes that while we will be one as a country…..we are still diverse in our states…towns  and neighborhoods……

Most welcome will be the expectation of silence replacing the shouts of discontent when accountability no longer goes unanswered from those new to arrive in Washington after campaigning long and  hard that we were denied it for far too long….

So…Dear Readers… no matter your affiliation….do yourself a favor…let your guard down……and enjoy the majesty of all this inauguration has to offer over the next 2 days… the pageantry…the history… the celebration… of an event that makes us all proud to be citizens of this great country…and then settle down….and allow this new administration to show us that our glass half full of hope(ful)…was just that…..(hopefully!)….

‘Obama to create oversight office’

Washington – President-elect Barack Obama on Wednesday announced he is creating a “chief performance officer”

Well…well…well… if it’s good enough for the President..if it’s good enough for the country….it should be good enough for the VFD……here in LBTS.. …especially now that we know the “excuses” used by the de-facto Chief and the Chief of the VFD were just that….”excuses”…regarding the concern and reaction the Pompano Beach Fire  Department had about the VFD department having an oversight board……

In a previous post…it was revealed that Comm. Dodd did some looking into the assertion by both men…with another follow-up call….and just as  he found out  that the Plantation “Chief to Chief ” courtesy agreement of no “raiding”  the Plantation volunteer firefighters which these two said led to the McIntee VFD motion of a 1 year delay for any Plantation FF to join the VFD…(unanimously approved)….was not the truth…no matter which Plantation Chief or Deputy Chief was asked..(with the added discovery that the Deputy Volunteer Chief had not spoken to McIntee despite McIntee saying just that on the dais……shades of the Plantation- McIntee firetruck fiasco from the past…(this writer must have been hoodwinked again on that one while drinking the Kool-aid in those days…)… Once more …both men were less than honest…..The Chief of Pompano informed Comm. Dodd that he actually welcomed oversight boards..and had absolutely no problem with one in LBTS… and that he had not spoken to either man about any concerns….adding that he  was waiting until after the first of year to speak to Chief Perkins for the first time …OOPS!….

But the manager, Ivan Pato, said his letter was no mean-spirited missive but a general dissertation on the rigors of his job. He got the ax a week before he planned a more natural retirement.’

“HANDED A GIFT”…

That’s what politicians look for…whenever it looks like things are not going their way….

That’s what Republicans got with Charlie Rangel…..but the difference…his “Gift” has some “teeth” attached…….

Locally it’s the “Gift” of Greenfest and Terry Arthur (the Mayor’s former campaign manager)……connected to the Mayor of LBTS…the stretching out the accusations of wrongdoing…for as many Commission meetings as possible…to stave off the more looming issues facing this town…the VFD ….the Administration…..oversight…….all involving the “2 hats” members of the dais…

Previously posted the Vice Mayor stated from the dais emphatically…. that there was no criminal act committed…so why make that statement and continue on anyhow?…. What’s the deal…why all the hub-bub from a certain faction…instead of just asking for some housecleaning to be done by the Mayor to put this event’s accounting to bed….done off the dais..with an update from the Manager during her report?….

Anyone have any doubt …why it continues…and for how long?…Until the next “gift”…diversion can be found!…

No matter how many “Gifts”…the questions on the real issues…will not go away…and while waiting for the other shoe to drop…be assured….it always does….

Politics…you gotta love it…it’s the best show in town……..it’s preemptive….with casting doubt…..turning the spotlight away….starting out …. holding up $100 “bribes”…… it’s a game…keeping everyone under your thumb……it’s selective…..no public information records…..it’s defensive…….calling any questions…. a “witch hunt”…it’s diversionary….conducting “investigations”…….it’s a circus……..juggling to keep it all at bay….for as long as possible…but in the end…no matter what the “prize”…doesn’t have to be money…could be just ego…power and control….the outcome is always the same…..always the same…Why … so sure?……..did I tell you I’m from Illinois?….
