IT’S A GENERATIONAL THING

After watching 72 year old John McCain yesterday…it really came down to a generational thing…

A “guy”…….. who when you meet him in the hall and say “how are you” still says “Fine ” and moves on headed down that hall to take care of business..rather than give you the new GQ “metro-man” details…

A “guy” ………who when asked about his cheating days….measures his words…but conveys that it was wrong in his demeanor…rather than give you the “Oprah couch” segment…

A “guy” …….who admits he struggled …learned lessons…reached out…but stays stoic …..in this public setting…rather than stretching out on the proverbial therapist’s couch…

So ……..he reads the teleprompter side to side with uncomfortable effort…. he is unable to raise his arms to wave with grace and ease… but the message…. his message……delivered a little stiff…like his movements…. is real….. the points he wants to convey are made with conviction….they are steady …they are stable….and they are smooth….because they are true….

When he jokes …with a little twinkle in his eye…..after being so rudely disrupted by the far left Democratic operatives… “Code Pink” Obama campaign “bundlers”……..it is like watching Spencer Tracy in Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner…commanding a low-key…. respectful response……..effectively swatting aside any real impact….they tried to attain….

Style….what is style….to him it means black or brown socks…with whatever shoes are worn that day….

Substance that’s where it’s at for him…friendships…who’s alongside him….and who is willing to do the right thing….politics be damned….take a look at who is beside him…on both sides of the political aisle….who stands behind him…how far back in time those friendships stretch…no apologies for his associations ..no distance required…no need to walk away …..

No 72 year old guy can measure up on the 60 inch LCD HD TVs ……the way a charismatic 47 year old can….ala Nixon VS Kennedy…..when those who watched it on TV said Kennedy won the debate …while the radio audience insisted it was Nixon….

He said what he meant…he meant what he said….he has the record…he has the experience….he has done it before….like others before him….from his generation…he states his case…..and leaves it at that…which truly is a …generational thing…that should continue….for every generation to come……

THE SOAP OPERA CONTINUES…..

The previous policy of children being off-limits in the world of politics was appropriate…and a policy that should continue going forth….

The assault on GOP V. P.  candidate Sarah Palin via her children is one that no matter what your politics…as a woman…and a  mother ….should raise your ire!…

How can those who said…. we are ready for a woman for President…give her accolades for her “cracks in the ceiling”… announce how it means so much as a parent of daughters….and then be a “party” to the disgusting assertions…that have been growing in the past days about a mother’s children?….

To take the “Desperate Housewives” plot…from the last season….and say it is even plausible …for this vetted nominee is really outside the realm of reality….

In the season finale, Katherine saves Bree’s life by telling her ex-husband Wayne her secrets. When Katherine kills Wayne, Bree rallies the other housewives around Katherine to prevent her from going to prison.

In this day and age of anorexia…and eating disorders…to point out “body image” issues of a teenager is also out of touch and should blow the minds of all those dealing with this devastating issue so prevalent in todays society…
