ARE PEOPLE LYING? in 2008….
I watch the television…read the papers and hear the pundits…say…it’s a landslide…but in day to day…conversations…it’s not a done deal….so say the little people…
Seems there’s a lot of lying going on…to those same PC spreaders of the “Plan” that it is time for a “change”…
These are the same people on the local level….who are up in arms about a possible 1% tourist tax…who will step to the podium next month to express outrage over Waste Management and the “hit” they take as a small business….
The same group disgusted when the new majority came to the LBTS dais in February…and “awarded” they say incredulously… themselves with insurance…cell phones and talk of raises in the future…
In talking to store owners who came here from countries who already have lived through the Obama “system” of fairness in place ….and exult the countless reasons how that was why they fled to come here…
Children…adult children of parents who lost everything in Cuba…and Iraq……observing a sadness….a fear they have not seen in their folk’s present life…only in the past when they reflected on what came to be when their homelands faced their “change”…their “fairness”…
Jewish acquaintances who feel as Democrats…they need to “play” a familiar…uncomfortable …game of saying they are going for him…but nod in agreement…that behind the curtain…they just cannot…be a Democrat this time…
Why the uncertainty on an individual level….in this writer’s opinion…Obama is a chameleon….he takes on whatever will “work” publicly…… takes it as his own….for a while…
Looking back at his “journey”… who was influential…along the way…what he would do do succeed…as a Chicago politician…. what he has been given a pass on….educational background writings…and what he allowed those beside him to do…to impose silence….on the questioners…with legal threats…subtle and not so subtle…startling…
The true politicos…say…that in a major election…both candidates move from their own ideology to accommodate the backers…and pull in the masses…to get the votes…only to return to their platform….once the race is over….so where will they return to….left or right…or center?…
In this vein…….Obama will move left…far left…and McCain will come back to the middle…the bi-partisan middle…both with a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress…
McCain…is no Bush…and Bush could have helped him tremendously by saying what a thorn in his side he has been over 2 terms……cutting him loose……a missed opportunity early on….
Candidate McCain missed another big opportunity to say no to the bail out…as most wanted someone… to buck the system on this one…which is his usual style…to be the maverick…. saying not so fast….
At least he owned up to his decision….he said this time ….he had to do what was needed…and this was required for this crisis ….a crisis McCain tried to avert a few years back…to no avail courtesy of the Obama backers…the Obama advisers…. feigning ignorance of their involvement….
Of note…all the mortgage buying talk by McCain has been another independent move…an un-Republican offer…but after listening to a news report last night that the first part of the bail- out may never even be seen by those looking for credit…with the institutions seeing no credit “worthy” applicants….thus…saving their own necks first…thus …making McCain’s insistence it go to homeowners…maybe he knew what we did not…. weeks ago….
When venturing out into the political campaign world on the local level last year…here in LBTS…I saw first hand …”How the sausage was made”…and who comes up with what strategy behind the scenes…the maneuvering that goes on to get the votes…no matter how obscene or ridiculous…the badgering of the candidates themselves…to succeed …it ain’t pretty…so on a national level…YIKES!…
The concern…over this election is real….the results will be messy….the lawyers will be en mass….the divide will widen….and the utter disbelief will be ugly after the fall-out of whomever wins…
If it is Obama… it be the fall-out of the Dems “stealing” the election…with Acorn…questionable below the radar internet contributions… In place as we speak…. lawyers…. a multitude of lawyers….this time not walking away…until every vote is looked at….If the pundits have called it right…and it is a big win….the Democrats will take this as a mandate from the people…to over- haul the system …in ways we have never seen before…with those who oppose these changes figuring out how to deal with the new imposed regulations…to save what is theirs…through their own hard work…
A McCain…win…will bring outrage……the loudest shouts of all…acknowledging a 3-fer …Gore…Kerry…and now an Obama….loss…..only to find….the responders…the citizens…who answered the polls were lying once again…leaving many pollster and pundits…heading for the unemployment lines…themselves…
That’s the problem with chameleons…..whether politician or voter….it’s always hard to see….
