LBTS Agenda 6/11/08

Yes it is on the 2nd Wed. of the month…not Tues…previous posts…
NOTE: a change in style….. this agenda post…similar to the Lemieux Report … and time constraints…previous posts
The invocation will be done by Rev. James Goldsmith…of the Community Church…in LBTS…
Presentations will be the quarterly report by the BSO police…
and sure to bring the crowds to Jarvis Hall and to their TVs/computers…the gas port with the Suez Corporation…. finally in attendance to get …hopefully….equal time….
Residents from in and out of town will have a say…along with politicians…on the dais and most likely at the podium for this highly charged issue…that will be again addressed… item 12a….for Resolution opposing it….the agenda states it was put on by Comm.Clottey…OOPs…
BCbythesea…it was tabled from the last meeting …put on by the Mayor……Town Clerk needs to correct the agenda…
NOTE:….Comm. Clottey contacted BCbythesea…she did add a point she wanted to address not contained in the previous tabled item…….. but unless something has changed in Town Hall with tabled items on the agenda…….Comm. Clottey’s item should have either been an addition to …or separate from…. the original Resolution tabled by the Mayor at the prior meeting…still showing this Resolution was the the Mayor’s tabled item…
UPDATE:…Comm. Clottey …took the time to remind BCbythesea….that the item was not tabled…..it did not have a second…early on in the meeting….was addressed the next day……and was not tabled …at that time either…
a check on the previously posted meeting of 5/28/08…the cont. meeting…bears this out….OOPs!…and thanks… this time…the Town Clerk was indeed correct…
BCbythesea…opinion…as previously posted….in the minority on this one….siding with the scientists…although…it was a major blunder…for the company…state….and FPL not to anticipate the present reaction…and to make a change of location further south from start….previous posts….
Two items on the agenda for GIS (geographical information system) Mapping…a vital need to deal with the towns ability to address boundaries and infrastructure…the utilities….
This was tabled 2 times…and Comm. Silverstone thought Broward County might have the ability to share its software…and save us the $4,500….Development Head…Frank Rabinowitz and Assist. to the Manager believe otherwise…and want this item purchased…
Reports…Vice Mayor…on the Bel-Air Beautification Committee Report?…..the Assist. to the Manager did inform BCbythesea that Bel-Air was done…. (when comparing it to the never-ending…Seagrape hold-ups due to Walter Keller….)….
not sure what this is …will update….as any info is found…
Town Manager’s Report…on development orders for Minto/Oriana…have to do with making sure LBTS follows through with the designated “boardwalks” that are supposed to be behind each structure….eventually connecting down the beach by the seawalls….
If we do not take these and use them…a repeat of lost property will likely occur as it apparently has with beach access in the north…
BCbythesea….whatever happened with that investigation?….boardwalks would be a welcome addition to our town…
Back to the drawing board with Ordinance 2008-13…to eliminate the sewer hook-ups for Palm Club….
OOPS…it is under 1st reading….unless BCbythesea…missed the re-publishing…it should be removed …as it is a legal requirement…to publish prior….
BCbythesea….previous post…it should not have arbitrarily been voted down by the 2 incumbent commissioners…due to the required re-publishing and the cost incurred…

2nd readings….
Ordinance 2008-14….the no-brainer to extend music for special events…
BCbythesea…hopefully the use of the newly installed extension will be ASAP with the return of Jazz on the Square….
Ordinance 2008-15….repeal of the coconut removal requirement by residents….the Assist. to the Town Manager informed BCbythesea…he has concern if this passes that it could present a conflict with state requirements….if he is correct….why did he not address this with the commission at the time of 1st reading?….
BCbythesea….there really is a happy medium to this back and forth…situation….code enforcement…citing residents who are neglectful with their coconut trees extending over town property…as in right-of-ways… set-backs …. and let the town continue to maintain coconut trees throughout the town that are town owned…as at the chamber…leaving it up to residents to deal with those within their property lines…
Consent Agenda….
Notification of certification of 7 liens for LBTS residential property in foreclosure…. will it be only the beginning?….
Commissioner Clottey has a few items that make sense and need to be sweepingly approved…
Extending the time for commissioners to add to the agenda…which will let them better represent their constituents ….who need items addressed….and should not need an additional 2 weeks to put on…..just for staff preparation time……
BCbythesea….these commissioners…will most likely use the additional time sparingly….which will accommodate all parties involved in the process…a win-win….
Public meetings with the local businesses and the town…commissioners…

Adding to the vote to allow performing arts in Jarvis at the 5/27/08…commission meeting…by opening the hall to other interested companies…
LBTS CIC is asking for hall for a “Old Fashioned Town Hall Meeting”…..Aug. 3rd, 2008…from 7-10pm…
Approval for a wedding at the beach…Beach Side Hotel…7/14/08…”The Parker Wedding”…not known to the Assist. to the Town Manager….if it is “that Parker” ….having the event….
Old Business….
Fire Services….RFP…. VFD will be voted in as the new fire safety provider for LBTS in October….
BCbythesea….only question…will it be 5-0….or 4-1… with Mayor Minnet opposing?…..
New Business….
Mayor Minnet wants the “greening” in town to include a residential/business recycling program….
BCbythesea….the extent to add onto what is already adhered to residentially remains to be seen….. for the businesses….one more expense ….at this time?…..
Town Clerk for 1 member and 1 alternate for the Board of Adjustment…which the commission and administration better hope provides them with the necessary members on the dais to actually hear a variance …coming before the board next week….previous post….
