Here’s The Scoop…The Manager Not Using This Site…To Hire…Was Only The Beginning…
December 27, 2008 by Barbara
LBTS STOPPED USING THIS SITE…FOR HIRING HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS….and so it began….
A look at this site shows that at the same time we were looking for a new Town Attorney…Hollywood used this Florida League of Cities site and was bountiful in replies…while we had 2…
We did not repeat the Town Attorney RFP …( requested by new Commissioners Clottey/Dodd)….
It was the 1st “Executive” decision…allowed in this “Cop-like lock-step”..status quo…..letting the Town Manager call the shots…
In 2008…not once was this appropriate site used for putting the word out for the head of any department…thus we ended up with elevating employees within the department…hearing there was no response to ads…
Where were the ads placed?…Not here!….
A look at the site shows all municipalities around us use this venue…so it is a given …this is where those qualified for these top jobs would routinely look…
We did use it in 2007 and in 2006….
Some serious questions need to be asked with some serious response from the Town Manager….
It started with the Town Attorney being handpicked by Ms. Colon……the hiring practices being suspect… purchases being done solely on her say-so…..and here we are today with outbursts on the dais…(Nov-Dec. Commission meetings )…..”sections” of code citations…(we now hear …the administration will pin the change for the north end…on the recently approved Unified Land Development…which sadly most on the dais did not even read…relying on and leaving it all up to “Esther”…)….and now the latest…the pavilion’s major changes…done without consulting and informing the Commission or the residents of the 10/19/09 Broward County grant extension date…or the sole decision that led to……no walls…no plumbing…etc….( a far cry from banners…flagpoles…entry signs….even Public Safety Complex interiors/exteriors)
If this had all happened under the previous majority…with the previous Town Manager….the BTSTimes would be sending out “Newsflashes”…and the “2 Hats” would be calling for a special meeting…with the CIC calling to pack Jarvis Hall!…
Different majority…different Town Manager…different response…you bet!……..
