NO HAYRIDES…THIS CHRISTMAS…..

‘If you can’t make it downtown, stop by Lauderdale-by-the-Sea’s annual “Christmas By The Sea” from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Set up on the town’s beach at the end of Commercial Boulevard, this annual family friendly event features local carolers, hayrides, a Santa village and the ceremonial lighting of the town’s tree. While it may not offer several tons of shaved ice, this is one event that will have you feeling like you’ve arrived somewhere else. And of course, admission is free.’

Somebody didn’t get the message…LBTS Christmas-By-The-Sea…is not to be…just a simple tree lighting at 7pm on  Dec.2nd..

Spread the word…

Here’s The Scoop…Christmas By The Sea…The Brainchild…The Backers…

November 24, 2008 by Barbara

A Little history on Christmas-By-The-Sea…from Town Topics…2006
Our major annual
events, Taste of the Beach and
Christmas-By-The-Sea, are well
attended by Town residents. Jazz
on the Square, first initiated by the
Chamber and now sponsored by a
valued director, Dave Gadsby, is a
favorite with many locals. The 30-
foot Christmas tree was also the
brainchild of Mr. Gadsby. The fund
drive was sponsored by the Cham-
ber and financed by local busi-
nesses and a few residents to the
tune of $30,000 plus.

Here’s The Scoop…A Major Hit To Our LBTS Holiday Season

November 18, 2008 by Barbara

Say goodbye to the parade…

Say goodbye to the hayrides…..

Say goodbye to Christmas By The Sea….2008…..

This year LBTS will have a very simple tree lighting ceremony….on December 2nd….period!

The President of the Chamber of Commerce Paul Novak will say a few words …followed by Mayor Minnet lighting the tree…..

The VFD will put up the tree and a professional company will decorate it…paid for entirely by local business…which means a few restaurants and  motels…no Town funds will be included……

The Chamber is already thinking of ways to raise money throughout the year for next years event…so they will not have to go to the podium and beg!…

Such a sad way to start this 2008 holiday season….for the Chamber ….and the town….

more to come….
