BACK TO COLOR…..

HMMMM…someone was paying attention….the Calypso/Suez….in today’s Sentinel…pg.14A…have returned to the original color full-page ad once more…

smart move …better ad… it follows the AP report on pg. 5A…

McCain urges offshore drilling…off the Florida coast….so which is preferable?….

BCbythesea…projection…we will see both…in the future…along with the alternatives….

DE-LISTED….

in today’s Sentinel a list of July 4th events…but LBTS is not included….what gives?….

BCbythesea…heard last night from Public Information Officer Steve d’Oliveira…that one had been submitted…needs to be addressed…with the Sentinel…to get the word out…. especially with competing Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Beach…being shown…

Speaking of July 4th celebrations….KUDOS to the town of Hallandale Beach…who decided once again to get a jump- start on the celebration…and save their town big bucks…by having the festivities on June 28th…

it all started when they found out the high cost and competition on July 4th…so they save 30%…..which the taxpaying residents enjoy…and allows the people to attend the 4th events again…at another town’s expense….

BCbythesea….sounds like those who have Xmas after the 25th….

I WANT THEIR MILLAGE RATE….

‘Pompano Beach Planners brace for budget cuts.’..Linda Trischitta

Faced with cuts…that will impact Pompano Beach…they are looking at either a millage at $3.38 per $1000 or to levy taxes at what the state would allow the city to charge….3.4945 mills….

BCbythesea…at the 1st budget workshop on 6/12/08…LBTS proposed millage rate….4.5618…which the Town Manager thinks should please us….not this writer…a lower millage…along with less in the various funds and reserves… would put a smile on ….

One more thing…if Sun Trust Bank…. the bank listed on several accounts …LBTS has…is really going to charge us for having a line of credit…look elsewhere…it seems that because we have the other accounts…are in good standing …and municipalities are highly regarded for banks to loan to…a line of credit should be available …with no money down until and unless it is needed….

STOP…WE WANT TO GET OFF….

‘Pensions rise, putting cities in tough spot’….Breanne Gilpatrick…(6/16)…

The tightening of the budgets have opened up the dirty little secret that impacts us all…as previously posted…government pensions and retirement funds….

a follow-up editorial is in today’s Herald…

BCbythesea…at the 1st budget workshop …while discussing the possibility of starting up a LBTS Building Dept….which this writer opposes at the present time….previous post…. the Town Manager stated that a person employed 20 hours a week by the town is a part of the Florida Retirement System (FRS) program…YIKES!…..

In the “outside” world…the private sector…no part-time employee would receive such benefits…no wonder the largest employer of new employees at the present time is the government!……

more to come on this one…as a revolt will surely arise by the taxpayers… sooner rather than later….

LBTS TOWN ATTORNEY’S FORMER “CLIENT”…. EX-COMMISSIONER WASSERSTROM….

‘Wasserstrom’s lawyer calls court tab ‘chutzpah’…… (6/16)…

No, Mr. Abbott did not make that statement…it was the attorney hired subsequent to Mr Abbott…to represent ex- Hollywood Commissioner Wasserstom… who according to Google searches…previous post…. was advised by our new Town Atty. when he was counsel to the Hollywood Commission….on what he was charged with……and convicted of….

The subject of the court costs…Broward state’s attorney’s office wants to collect $30,200 from Wasserstrom as it may be allowed to do since he was convicted of a felony….

RIGHT IN OUR BACKYARD…..

‘Fueling The Future’….Monica Hatcher…(6/16)…

For all those concerned about NIMBY… the LNG gas port…and drilling in the ocean…the flip- side…is also here…Harry Schoell……and his company Cyclone Power Technologies..in Pompano Beach…his Cyclone Green Revolution Engine, a multifuel, environmentally friendly, external combustion steam engine….

Winning awards and and possibly putting this area of the country on the map for an alternative way to drive…. check it out!……
