Areas Association Executive Committee Meeting…7/30/08

Jonathan …Landscape Foreman was out ill…a quick update was given on the progress with plantings…

New palm trees of different varieties are here…in the A nursery…and being put in around the B & C pool areas…along with the expected delivery of other plants…to continue to bring the grounds up to snuff…

All are happy with the quality of in-house work being seen…tree trimming…maintenance…and the attention to detail….

Also mentioned Jonathan’s going that extra mile…for us with his purchasing and delivery…pricing etc….

On that note it was brought to the board’s attention…the need to fill the position of Area Association Foreman…or Supervisor…not a Manager…

Redefining the role…vacated by Jerry….

The money for the position was already budgeted…and after this time without one…it was decided…it did not require someone to be inside…doing paperwork with an office…

This hire with work along with Jonathan…Landscape Foreman/Donna…..Pool manager…

The search is on….

Building B will be going through a transition…next week….

John Davidio our manager for the last 10 years …is retiring…(had a wonderful send-off party )…..

Brenda Callahan…was hired after a search …and many interviews…by a committee and the board….

She starts full-time on the 11th….

A few updates on projects…still dealing with MasTec…and the C tennis court…which is holding up the move to other courts…and a problem for the weekend tennis players…with some going elsewhere off the grounds to play….

While they are going outside…we had a few trying to play inside the property…by jumping the fence…they were escorted out….

The talk again turned to the “soft surface” on the courts…the status…the consensus….the “tennis committee”….”dropped the ball”…pun intended…actually said at the meeting…and did not follow through with the required info…to move forward on the product…

It was said the major proponent for the change of surface…a board member will probably bring it back to the table upon his return to SRC….

A special full board meeting has been called for Tuesday August 19th…at 7 p.m….in the Ocean Room…

A special assessment will be discussed…to finish off the required projects for this fiscal year…

SRC needs to assess due to an unrealistic budget put forth last year…and the fact that SRC does not have a reserve fund…voted down each year by the majority…

The projected assessment…before all buidings give their final numbers …is approx. $200 per …subject to change…

The end of September is budget time for next year…with more input on what will be required…and to return to a workable budget that includes capital improvements…

One such improvement…the cabanas…

They will be a remodeled….not a knocked-down…most likely doing whatever brings them up in amenities…without going through the “barriers” that would arise to be ADA compliant..and enter us into “permit hell”…if we cross the line…

Update….our contract is still in “limbo”….and our “elusive” consultant …seems to be tired of hearing from us…either…we are unaware that a long-term “lull”…..is normal…or something is amiss…another board member is going to contact the consultant…and see if he will come to speak to us…more to come…
