A resident from Davie is asking the same questions being asked right here in LBTS….
‘Davie Oversight”…
‘The Davie Mayor and Town Council do not know what the Town Manager is doing?’
‘I find that difficult to swallow that the people entrusted with approving our city budget do not oversee all expenditures involved and have to read about such things in the newspaper. We supposedly elect and support them to do so. If the town manager has the power to do so, what do we need with a council?’
‘I was always led to believe the town manager served at the pleasure of the Town Council, not the reverse.’

BCbythesea….the Gentleman from Davie….has the same sentiments and concerns as this writer….previous posts….
When it appears from the dais…the Manager is holding everything close to the vest……and the commission is an arms-length away or totally in the dark…. something is not right……..
When the “Master Plan” the Manager is working from…is not placed front of the Commissioners…for them to decide from the beginning of the 1st Budget Workshop…. what items can be stopped…or tabled…or go forth for the next year…. something is not right….
When the Manager “tells” the Commissioners there is money for this and not for that….and they do not know themselves…. what is in each fund…in each reserve….. relying on her response…. something is not right….
When the Manager…”tells” the Commission….where to set the millage rate……what to include for Capital Improvements…and they nod their heads…without question….. because they are not in receipt information above…something is not right…..
When the Vice Mayor….in some semblance of “cop” mentality …..says we have an outstanding Manager…and the “blind loyalty” card is played……resulting far too often in silence on the dais…….something is not right…..
This writer is not questioning the Manager’s ability to her job….
Once again …this writer is questioning….who is directing whom?………….
With the 2nd Budget Workshop next Tues. July 8th…5pm…it is up to this commission…to follow the correct order of how our LBTS government is set up……….
