No Mandate

As I am still unable to see the Commission meeting from last night, everything written so far has been from the many emails and phone calls from those who were there or monitored it from home ……

It seems from all who have contacted me that there is a common thread ….

The unity promised has not happened….and when is it going to start?

Here is what I have said in response….

It needs to start now…

the new majority did not win with a mandate from an overwhelming number of the citizenry…

it won by those who decided to take a chance…believe that a change in leadership would be different….not payback…..inclusion….showing them what was missing from their predecessors ….

if this is not the case soon…2 years from now….the swing voters will swing back!

The boards should have been appointed by each member of the dais …with no need to disparage any resident who took the time to apply….

the excuse of what was done to “friends” of the New Guard by the Old Guard in the past…does not fly…it makes the reality of what took place last night to the former chair of the Master Steering Committee even worse …..tit for tat is always a loser…..

arbitrarily imposed rules to shield members of the dais from the potential jabs that happened at the previous commission’s meetings …..preemptively…. left a bad taste in the mouth of many … who are still shaking their heads…. and will continue to do so ….especially after a move to reconsider it died once again last night….

the undercurrent message ….by a few …..of not “breaking ranks”….”soldiers”…..and disdain to those who counter these actions are a waste of energy and time….

The New Guard WON….

the EMS is decided….AMR…. they presented themselves admirably….with facts, strength in numbers both financial that will benefit the town and in personnel who attended each workshop, and never wavered in their answers….

the VFD will have every opportunity to do the same….it is now up to them to follow this example …fulfill the requirements…..show the numbers financially that will benefit the town and in personnel…. a full roster….that becomes a common site around town…. and never waver in the answers….

Next chance to get it right Monday 3/31/08…Town Attorney RFPs…5 pm Jarvis Hall…

It is the right thing to do…..promises were made to LBTS voters…..they expect them to be honored.
