on the Town Hall board… inside….at the present time…

1. Fire Marshall…requires a Bachelor of Science, Business, or Public Administration….3 years Fire Service Management skills….possess or able to obtain a fire code official certification from Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals….30-40 hours…weekly…. paid benefits….

Salary….$77,752.00- $97,150.00

2. Municipal Director….requires a BA in Business Administration,Civil Engineering, related field…5 years supervisory experience….paid retirement and health benefits…

Salary…$57,860.00- $60,860.00…

click on to Town employment….shows….’ No current job openings at this time’…HMMM….

How come?….

When this writer inquired where the ad for the Municipal Director position was being advertised… a few weeks back…Assitant to the Town Manager John Olinzock responded it remained only on the board for a period of time…in order to replace the position in- house…and would then be put out…

Since then this writer heard that LBTS employee Don Prince who was now acting as interim Municipal Director had taken the job…and everyone was pleased…previous post…

Curiously…days later in the town hall parking lot ….this writer inquired about his new position…in order to congratulate Mr Prince….he was “coy” in his response…saying they were “working on it”…so it was not a done deal….

BCbythesea…has heard that Don now has his office in the garage behind Town Hall …with a secretary…who was transfered from another department…

BCbythesea….the questions arise……..

why is the advertisement still on the board?….

Why is it not on the LBTS site?….

Has it been distributed elsewhere?…….

Does Mr. Prince have the required Bachelor degree….5 year supervisory experience …posted?….

The Fire Marshall position…also not on the site….

Where has that been advertised?….

Any responses?…It should have had a huge response….

Will the required qualifications be adhered to?…….

Upon looking at our Town website…and the Municipal Codes…also under www.municodes.com

Our Town Charter states the requirements for a Town Manager…(full text online….)

Town Manager shall be appointed solely on the basis of education and experience in accepted competencies and practices of local public management including, a graduate degree with a concentration in public administration, public affairs, public policy, public finance and two(2) years experience as an appointed city manager or county manager or four(4) years experience as an assistant city manager or assistant or deputy county manager.

BCbythesea…assumes our Town Manager met these requirements… as required by the LBTS Charter….

Not listed the educational/professional requirements of her staff…..

John Olinzock ….The Assistant to the Town Manager is stated this way …..why?….

Is there a different requirement for holding the more customary position…Assistant Town Manager?….

If not, why continue to refer to Mr Olinzock in this unusual manner?….it sure would be easier to say and write in the customary title…used by most municipalities….

What are the educational/professional requirements…of the Town Clerk?…..

Has a review been made to see all positions meet the “rules”…if there are “rules” and “regulations” required by the Charter and the state?…

Madam Manager has been quite adamant when she says …….she must “follow the rules”….when it comes to the forms being filled out for use of Jarvis Hall…..open container laws….etc….

BCbythesea…No accusations here….just wondering if the staff is meeting those requirements…and that LBTS is hiring those that are qualified….
