Local Papers

Futures….

As stated in previous posts…came out same week as their local competition …the Times….and printed my letter to the Editor…(check for details in those posts….)

Nice Doug Flutie front page story….

They too described AMR as private ambulance service… just as the Pelican did last week…in previous post…

As stated before…the qualifications ….the level of service will be equal…to what BSO was offering… for less money …. the commission 4- 1 (the Mayor dissenting) along with the Town Manager feel confident that AMR will perform…

We are either going to be the leaders on a major change in EMS that will be followed by our neighboring communities…..or we made a huge mistake… only time will tell…

Boy …the Editor blew it big time when he wrote …

Commissioner Clottey’s Condo War…

It appears that he left out portions of her statements…

fear mongering snippets…. should be long gone by now… election is over…

He conveniently neglected to say that his condo…the Corniche charges their west of A1A neighbors the use of the path to the beach….at $1800.00 per condo ….per year!….(currently 4 paying…for the right to walk to the beach..)

Big Question….

is Corniche paying sales tax?…

as recent article in Sun- Sentinel reported dock owners must do when they rent out? needs checking into….

He looks elitist in his assertions….bad move!

The Commissioner is only following through on her campaign promises to see if there is a fair way for west side residents to enjoy the same LBTS amenities of walking almost directly across the road to the beach that most in the north now have and all in the south have by way of portals….

Heard he has had some response from his north side of town …west of A1A neighbors already…gulp!

The Times….

Nice cover…. picture of a lifeguard….( Marc Furth’s?)

nice pics….article on the Easter event…

full page ad by AMR.. ( 3 issues of full page ads?) ….not comfortable about seeing newly hired business paying for full page ads…..?

cover story turned out to be commissioner comments…. from the Vice Mayor…we do need to address this issue…no more delays…

nice move to include both sides of the Town Board appointments issue…by John Thompson vs. Former Mayor Ken Wardlaw…

one point that did stick out rather callously though … when Mr. Wardlaw pointed out that Mr. Thompson no longer resides in LBTS!

It sounds very much like a statement the Old Guard would inject in a difference of opinion with John….

Mr Wardlaw’s points were strong without this jab….

Looks like the Vice Mayor’s wife is now a featured writer….with a picture…

The Pelican….

Judy Vik wrote about the absence of applications for town boards appointments…

I believe if she would have checked …she would find the previous commission did the same…so there was precedence for such a move….

that being said I do agree that it should be only from applications in the future…something that the Mayor might want to place on an agenda in the near future…

Ms. Vik addressed the rip current near drowning…so all 3 papers addressed this topic….

the Pompano residents wrote in this week to point out that the new dog park is not welcome by all….

particularly funny…the placement of the ‘Dogs wanted at Green Market this Saturday’ article…directly across from the dog park dissenters letters to the Editor!

even more dogs in this issue with an article on Lighthouse Point approving a resolution to regulate “breeds” of dogs allowed in city….

The Hi- Riser….

cover with picture of partially opened Pompano Pier…hardly welcoming with chain link fence….

signs of condo fraud….red flags…having a system of checks and balances with financial records….

senior volunteer services…www.seniorvolunteerservices.org (unfortunately my site changed their format and I cannot link as before until my web guy walks me through a new way to resume it….

now to see if the Pelican is alone next week?
