Sun-Sentinel political blog reports today that in Pompano Beach, development is the issue this election…..
redevelopment, density …. sound familiar?
District 1 is the beach area with 3 candidates vying for the seat.
Incumbent McGinn has collected 27,027 dollars and Candidate Dockswell, 21,347.
They have both accepted campaign contributions from real estate interests,but say that these donors do not presently have projects in front of the city.
Candidate Williamson’s war chest is $3,144, has not taken donations from anyone in real estate or who is going before the board.
District 3 Candidate Horak is proud to be running on a shoe string of 851 dollars…no real estate donors.
Incumbent Hardin has raised $2,8550 in donations from special interests, but sees no conflict with those whose projects are being reviewed by the city.
Perhaps these candidates need to look to their neighbors to the south…..the Jan 29th LBTS election?
It’s development, stupid…..of course it matters to the voters where your donations come from!
I hope Pompano voters follow LBTS voter’s lead….elect those who forgo donations from developers, real estate…and anyone else who might come before them once elected.
