‘BSO can’t provide EMS as cheaply as for-profit company

Bob wrote a letter that is a must read …comparing cost savings…for-profit…VS…supposedly not- for-profit…and the recently revealed county subsidizing of the BSO …previous post….
BCbythesea….info….a little o f the “sausage making” from the January LBTS election…
Bob was either asked or implored to run for commissioner from the north- end of town by one or two people with ties to a local paper in town…. as a CIC endorsed candidate….
At the time another candidate was getting ready to put her offcial hat in the ring….
some concern had arisen….due to her “independence” on certain topics that had come to the forefront… and those persons now had some doubts about her…
Bob decided to go for it…….and these persons were definitely on board…
He was asked to answer a questionnaire…put out by the CIC and to speak to the group…as all CIC candidates were required to ….. for the coveted endorsement by the members… he did so..
Full disclosure…BCbythesea was co-campaign manager for candidate Dodd who declared his candidacy…and was lined up behind the north- end candidate whenever she made it official….
but made it clear that it was still open for the CIC to make the final choice….if there were more than one candidate…as was required….
As Vice Chair…receiving Bob’s answers…I thought a vote between these two would definitely take place…his answers were strong…
he had one “glitch” ….his stance on 15 stories in the north- end of town…. and explaining it to the members…but overall…CIC backable…
unfortunately….he went one evening to attend the newly formed “Unite Our Town” as a guest…
he was stuck between a rock and hard place that evening….between the group inside who would not vote for him…… having their chosen candidate… Mayor Pro-Tem Clark….and knowing the paper he sometimes wrote for….and…
the backlash he apparently received for his attendance from those persons that had jumped on him to enter the race… in the first place….
he dropped out….. didn’t have the stomach for it….
BCbythesea….full disclosure….I called Bob…heard the sorrow in his voice of what he encountered that night and in aftermath…asked him to reconsider …relating how impressed I was by his questionnaire…
I also informed the other potential candidate that I had made the offer….to him….
alas…he did not change his mind….
maybe next time…Bob….as an independent…call me….
