Here’s Ths Scoop

This morning BCbythesea has resigned from the CIC….

an e-mail was sent to the newly elected Board…as follows…

To the CIC Board:

It is with a heavy heart that I am sending you this e-mail informing you that I am resigning as member #72 of the CIC.

I thought I could maintain a non- participating membership and still be supportive of the organization, but find that is no longer possible.

It has become quite apparent that my ideals and that of the present direction this group is going, are worlds apart.

It has been a privilege in the past to work alongside many of you, and I will always value those experiences.

Sincerely, Barbara Cole

Some will say this was a surprise and others will know …as of late…it was inevitable….

I joined and spent increased time, effort and money in support of a “watchdog” group that was built on the ideals I saw …first… in longtime and present Board member and co- founder John Thompson… after watching him as a “lone speaker of truth” at the podium in Jarvis Hall for quite some time.

In jumping in …head first… my time and the time of the organization were totally in sync with a direction of change from the “status quo” that was so oppressive to anyone who spent any amount of time at the commission meetings…observing incredulously as “business as usual” was being enacted at our expense.

I marveled at the two new commissioners and how thay did not sit quietly…. without question….but met it all head on with a fervor of what was…. and what it could and should be.

For a time, it worked, it was a catalyst of getting things right in this town, and doing what… to their credit… was unthinkable for so long.

Now, sadly, with victory has come….. in my humble opinion…more of the same…. from those very commissioners that were there to see it never happened again.

To say I am disappointed, would be an understatement, at best.

Faithful readers are well aware…..

BCbythesea….unsolicited advice…is this…it is not too late….to turn it around …

walk away from the “sophomore” mentality, the “getting back” actions…and the constant revisiting of the past….move on…

Question… as you did …when you were in the minority… do not feel an allegiance to each other or the Town Manager as the previous commission did…it was this type of thinking that brought forth a total disregard for finding the facts and fixing mistakes…the “status quo”…”business as usual” that is the easy way to govern…but certainly not the best or right way.

Follow-up questions are needed on budget and administrative acts….full disclosure.

As a former member I made promises to my neighbors …that this majority would be different… in their actions….their style….not just changing the fire service…and development……

so far…at 100+ days….

there were some campaign promised changes enacted…. right out of gate……..but as of now….not followed-up on….and fiscal responsibility….needs to be shown….as was expected by my neighbors ….in all that comes before the new commission….

From out here… viewing from afar….especially after last night’s meeting ….(5/27/08)…. do it now!
