Here’s The Scoop….WHAT?……Where Did This Come From?….

WHERE DID SHE GET THIS FROM?…..

In todays Sentinel….local section….

“LAUDERDALE- BY- THE- SEA CUTS BUDGET”

by Linda Trischitta……

She reports…that cuts came from ….

Capitol Improvement projects…on hold…”including the $2.8 million underground wiring of El Mar Drive”…..

WHAT?……

BCbythesea…6/11/08…LBTS Budget meeting….

What was put on hold….$1.25 million for underground wiring on Codrington….per Comm. Dodd…(a project not recommended by the Town Manager!)……

Never any mention of El Mar Drive….or $2.8 million…….

El Mar Drive…is supposed to have the underground wiring done by each developer….as they go….

Add to that the Furth’s …who recently descended on the Master Plan Steering Committee…previous post….to make El Mar Drive the primary project for for the committee…thus thwarting the committee from further involvement in the Overlay Districts….

If the $2.8 million were on the budget…. it would have definitely been addressed at that meeting also….

Next in the article…the same claim as Judy Vik reported in the Pelican…last month…previous post…on the $4 million loan to buy the hotel for a public safety building….HMMM…….

If there really was this $4 million for this purpose…why was it not presented to the commission to decide how they wanted to use it?…….

Perhaps…. an alternative might have arisen…such as using it to begin Town Complex ….which according to the 2004 Master Plan…previous post….stated… would take 2 years to complete…..

Perhaps……. this might have been something for the residents to vote on?………

Perhaps……..a vote of the residents would have provided a bond or some other financing options to complete the complex?…….

Perhaps…if it were known that there was $4 million in an account for a building……to use along with the sale of the warehouse at the reported appraised sale price of $2 million….resulting in $6 million in funds……it could have gone towards projected $7- 10 million dollar Town Complex?………

BCbythesea…this is why …when any referendum goes out…this next year….it should include…. a referendum… requiring a vote of the residents for any Town purchase over a million dollars……..

Also in the article…it presents…what was previously posted…that non- homestead households will see a larger savings than homesteaded homeowners……

Someone in Town Hall needs to do some explaining….of who is making these decisions…and who is not!….
