Here’s The Scoop….VFD/SRL….NO BID

So what has happened with the LBTS-VFD and Sea Ranch Lakes?….

Depending on who you talk to….

SRL has had another bid…and the VFD is no longer the 1st bid…..made known to the VFD about 3 weeks ago….

BCbythesea… possibly Pompano Beach bid?……..

SRL pulled out due to the following…separately or a combination of….

SRL did not like the input from the Commissioners….asking for rate increases…or asking for specific requirements…putting them on a different “playing field” than LBTS…

BCbythesea…Comm. Clottey was just 1 out of 5 on the dais…making her opinion known….other inquiries were on behalf of concerned LBTS residents…

SRL did not like that the Town of LBTS owns the fire trucks…

BCbythesea…but doesn’t Pompano Beach/Ft. Lauderdale own their own fire trucks?….

SRL was unhappy that the Town of LBTS would not negotiate them and with AMR …leaving SRL with a bid from AMR that was way too expensive…

BCbythesea…Really?…Thought the commission and Town Manager had spoken on the dais of a plan where the town was covered …due to any response required by AMR…with a back-up plan for a 3rd ambulance mobilized from Powerline…to Holy Cross…and the Holy Cross ambulance would come to the town…when a call went out for SRL….

Was there no negotiating on this…by the Town Manager with SRL or AMR?….

SRL decided after the VFD meeting…attended by the VFD Chiefs and Vice Mayor McIntee…without a VFD attorney…to not go ahead…deciding to lok elsewhere and “bundle” their service….for fire/EMS…

SRL might be going with Pompano for just this reason…..

SRL would still get the VFD responding…no matter what due to mutual aid…requiring the closest fire service to respond…with no monies going to the town….

BCbythesea…This was stated by the Town Manager…as to why they may have walked away….if true….

If they didn’t think of this before the Manager spoke……after hearing the dais….they sure did….so why wouldn’t SRL just have a EMS service?…..

Also heard…the lines of LBTS- VFD and the Town of LBTS are still way to “blurry”….and in need of being defined ….. their partnership would benefit from it being made clear…and make it easier for the VFD to operate….

more to come….
