Have you taken a look at ‘The Truth Detector’?….
It’s a regular column written by “Staff Writers”……in the Mc-Furth Times…and it is unofficially referred to around these parts as the “World According To McIntee”…or “The Half-Truths Detected”…
In this last edition…these references apply once more!…
Page 1 & Page 5…from the “other town paper”….About that patient in in Terra Mar Island and the violation of Hipaa….”The Truth Detector”… states it was an “assist the resident call”and that ‘Not one word was discussed about any medical problems nor was the name or address of the resident disclosed. The resident called for assistance…not medical help.’……NOT SO FAST…HALF-TRUTH….
The Nov. VFD Activity Report List….Medical Calls…
’13-Nov-08….Address included…..medical, assisted M12 w/citizen back in bed 2:05:00 pm…2:35:00 pm….7 FF’
above that is a prior call to the same address…
’15 – Nov-08…….address included….medical assist, M12….9:57:00…11:59:00….17 FF’
BCbythesea….has previously posted that the VFD may be in violation of Hipaa in their activity reports…due to the fact they disclose in public records the addresses of the medical calls…for the above resident and others…
The VFD report clearly calls it a medical call and lists it under the Medical Calls category in their report…..
I have spoken to the Chief Perkins about this in the past…and also with Brooke Liddle of AMR in LBTS…due to the fact that this writer believes the VFD inclusion of these addresses..which includes AMR in their report…along with the AMR monthly report shows they were there on Nov. 13th at the same time….thus the address and medical problem is released….clearly in violation of the privacy act afforded to the patients…
Further implication of AMR being in violation by association ….All one has to do after looking at the report is to get the address from the VFD report…..look it up and it is easy to see that the person living at the address had …. attempted suicide…had a heart attack…was assaulted…..had a seizure…had a mental illness…….all included in the VFD Nov. Report as well as the October Report…
ALERT!…While looking into this correlation to double check…the calls…..it appears the VFD might have “fudged” their medical call report ……
On Nov. 15th..the VFD report states…as above…”medical,assist M12″…for the Nov. 15th call…the 17 FF call….but…
The AMR report shows no such M12 response to a call to that block…..on that day…
The AMR report does show an M12 call to that block on 11/06/08…….
The VFD report shows they too went to the same address on 11/06/08…
’06-Nov-08….address included…..”medical, E12 standby”….5:05:00 am- 5:31:00 am….6 FF.’…..
It is time for the VFD to follow the same report procedure as AMR….
AMR…produces no specific address…just the block…with no medical reason for the call put out into the public domain…

According to the VFD Roster provided in September…’McIntee, Jerry Firefighter I certificate 127669 11/28/2005….First responder/CPR health provider…no certification number…valid until 5/31/2010’…
Unless we are unaware of the de-facto Chief removing all the Firefighters with more experience…ala the Pointu incident……he is definitely not “the most experienced firefighter in the VFD”……
The joke going around about this Half-Truth….”Yeah, he’s the most experience firefighter…because he won’t let anyone with more experience join!”….
