ONE WAY….ONLY……..
Bureaucrat…..
‘Government employee who follows a rigid procedure in administering the responsibilities of a position. A classical bureaucrat follows a set of rules and procedures in an impersonal manner. A bureaucrat is a career professional evaluated on the basis of merit and skill’
BCbythesea…”based on merit and skill”….HMMMM……….
bureaucratic bu‘reau·crat‘ic adj.
- An official of a bureaucracy.
bureaucratically bu‘reau·crat‘i·cal·ly adv.
2. An official who is rigidly devoted to the details of administrative procedure.
There is a culture found in these type of “lifers”…career government workers…that make their determinations in “black and white”…with no gray (matter)…to be found…
Case in point the total upheaval found from one end of town to another…from the north…to the south…As “promised” from this Administration on the dais…for months…saying “this won’t be the beginning and this won’t be the end”…of unhappy residents and businesses coming to Jarvis Hall…..whether it is the…sidewalks…sheds…boats…right- of- ways (alleyways)…what belongs to the government…belongs to the government…and unless the Town gets “direction” from the Commission……to intervene …… the “codes are the law”….in “black and white”…with this bureaucratic “gravy”train continuing on full steam ahead….count on it…$$$$$
Only a government”lifer” …brings in more government…the County…to add yet another layer…to further drive away compromise…or the status quo……After all haven’t the Commission called for ways to keep the County out of LBTS…through our public safety providers…..with an eye on getting our own building department?….
The “Athena Boys” came to the Commission to ask for use of the alleyway ….( previous scoops & lbts agenda/meetings categories)… What they got was political payback and bureaucracy ….refusing to see what made sense to most in attendance…….an easy way to rectify the “messed up” situation not of their own making…but as a result of the Town’s still suspect and still unanswered “Season”- timed pavilion construction…along with other “vendettas”…from those on and off the dais…who did not think an Athena alleyway denial…would open up the “floodgates”…and involve anyone beyond the “Athena Boys” ……(were those instigators not watching this very scenario happen over and over in the north?)….
As “promised” at that Dec. meeting…….the Manager went to the County …she said to to save money for the Town not having to pay for its own traffic study…and the County came back …deciding that the 6 “right-of-ways”…(alleyways )…are not sufficient for 2- way traffic…offering up the government “linchpin”…to the Town Administration…saying 2-way use… would be a Town safety concern…a “liability issue”…meaning…no turning back now….the alleys will be one-way…with signage…to come from the County….leaving “wiggle room’ for “Athena Boys”…to do what is required and ask for “egress”…while taking a “toll” on Aruba…and some of the other 4 ….in not allowing them what they have now….
It seems the north can now easily find some “neighborly” compassion for their ongoing “code sweeps” from the “hammered” in- town businesses…who are now themselves deep within the throes of dealing with the government big time…. only for them it is “times 2″…….(LBTS & Broward County)…….impeding their ability to survive in these tough economic times…..
Commissioners no doubt ….will once again be hearing from their those impacted…as they have been so many times before… a result of the bureaucracy……Perhaps, finally left no choice but to make ” the move”…to take their rightful place…according to this Town’s form of government…which places them..the Commission above the Manager…to give direction…and not allow anymore “code sweeps”….and actions such as this to be enacted without time to digest the consequences…
Once again, this writer feels the need to express…in addition to the above…this is not a sub-division…it is a non-conforming town…that needs to take on change and improvement …in ways that benefit the specific sections of the town…the residents…the businesses and not the “black and white” code….
more to come….
