The VFD November Meeting Minutes… a motion made by Senior Training Officer McIntee…that passed unanimously…previously posted VFD category…
McIntee, noted there were 3 more applicants coming from the Plantation fire department, he made a motion that all new applicants coming from Plantation could not apply until they had been out of Plantation for a year;due to the sudden rush of Plantation applicants wanting to quit Plantation and apply here. Passed

Why would the LBTS-VFD not want to take well trained Plantation Firefighters on as Associate Members of the VFD?….
What purpose does it serve to deny entry for one year?
Was there any conversation between the Chief of Plantation and the Senior Training Officer to precipitate such a motion?….
It is the opinion of this writer that the Plantation “combination” department may be the future of the LBTS-VFD …to make it a long term viable option for the town…with a Fire Chief…being separate from the VFD….hired by the Town…
Contrary to well meaning readers who have informed this writer of rumors…..I am not against having a LBTS-VFD….just extremely concerned with the VFD in it’s present form…
I was not involved or privy to the previous VFD…only a supporter from afar …donating funds to the Booster Club…who eventually came to the podium to speak to retain them…first with the BSO….the status quo at the time…… and ultimately to make them the town’s sole provider…. I “drank the Kool-aid” …and looked upon anyone who doubted the VFD…or brought up questionable acts by those in the department…. as “traitors”..on a “witch hunt”…”evil”…”hated”…and more….(sound familiar?)…
Quite honestly…if the previous VFD was anything like what this new VFD is presenting itself to be from the dais”2 hats”……from the public records that we are able to obtain….and from the questionable acts brought to light by those who have either resigned or been terminated…then it certainly makes past concerns by those who were informed…and were privy….completely understandable…
This change of opinion… comes from breaking away…getting information and seeing the light….
