Dear Readers ….This writer is hearing a lot of scuttlebutt …(previous post)…these days of who is going run for commission…and who will go up against the 2-Hats”…especially The Vice-Mayor…YEP the “Village Vigilante “Vollying” Vendettas” McIntee…
Is he going to run…DOUBLE YEP!…He’s already running…using a “personal” photog and sidekick Marc Furth to document his daily propaganda…”Cheerleading” it all in the Mc-FurthBTSTimes…After all the biggest ad revenue appears to come from the Mc-VFD Booster Club Fund…and the CIC ……The VFD “hero” photos…”Community service” P. R. set-ups (cleaning up the pavilion…previous post)….Just look at the daily self promotion he’s doing on the beach with a $1000 sign attached to the Beach Patrol ATV’s saying “Now on duty Deputy Chief Jerry McIntee”…and the handing out of suckers and business cards…(so we have heard.)…The time taken up in Commissioner Comments electioneering…etc…etc…etc…and of course the $$$$$ kickoff for the “Broom Boys” will be the July 4th celebration they co-chair but curiously 3 months out…there has been no discussion that has been divulged…no Sunshine posted of behind- the- scenes planning as was vigorously carried out last year at this same point in time…..Until now…with $40,000 being asked for in the next agenda (4/14/09) breaking down into $20,000 from the Town (taxpayer)/$20,000 donations (businesses?)…while conveniently excluding the fireworks cost at this point…….Will the “2-Hats” and their sidekick photog Furth go and implore upon the Marchelos brothers for fireworks off the pier after all the grief they have caused them along with the Town administration? We hear included in the item for the 4th…it is for 7/3 & 7/4…Didn’t Comm. Clotttey say she would vote no to anymore 2-day events? HMMM……
In the north end we now know a few potential candidates are laying low…biding their time to ward of “scorched earth” tactics and that previous election time organizations are gearing up to deal with the multitudes of ammunition McIntee has provided them with over this year as Vice Mayor…on top of the previous two as volatile Commissioner…
In the south end…with the rapid decline of the CIC and the blunder McIntee has caused with his perks…and his “play toys”…”he’s toast” is the word that abounds from the condos especially…..Add to that in this “old part of town” there is a growing field of those who expressed interest….seeing an opportunity to take these two “Broom Boys” down!…
BC- Of note to all …make sure you “band” together before the ballot goes out to pick the mightiest among you and to not dilute the votes..thus not providing an undeserved “win” by either “2-Hats”……..due to too many choices for the voters……
When looking up the elections in our LBTS codes. to clarify some points……I found the following ….. “gift”….
First…no matter what happens …If the inconceivable comes to light …and McIntee squeaks by by the slimmest of uninformed voters casting their votes……he will undoubtedly be in the minority of 1 (or 2 if he still has Commissioner Clottey on his side)……He will be left with no voice…and with the following “discovery”( Oldtimers knew, but it was new to this writer)……He will once again be only a Commissioner!….

Item number two and the real reason of the search on the Town Muni-codes….(ARTICLE VI….SEC.5)……was the interest in when we no longer have the “boundaries” of districts for north and south…requiring 2 Commissioners from each…I thought it ended on its own in 2012…But it appears it will still be open to decide….HMMMM……
This writer’s opinion…has changed from previous declarations a few years back…In 2012 it is time to allow for a Commissioner to be run from either end…with no need for representation to be required from a certain “side’ of town to accommodate the town’s constituents….We have seen, in my opinion over the past 3 years, having a Commissioner living in your end of LBTS absolutely does not assure you that your elected official will represent your interests over that of the other end of town…Any doubt ask the north end residents who previously voted in their “Broom Boy”!…
ARTICLE VI. ELECTIONS
Sec. 6.1. Mayor-Commissioner and Commissioners; term of office; election; transition.
(1) Beginning with the regular election to be held on the second Tuesday in the month of March, 2008, and every two (2) years thereafter, a Mayor-Commissioner shall be elected for a term of two (2) years until his successor is elected and qualifies.
(2) Commencing with the regular election of the Town held in March, 2006, and continuing with successive elections at intervals of four years, candidates may qualify for the offices of Town Commissioner Seat 1 and Town Commissioner Seat 2, each elected at large. Town Commission Seat 1 and Town Commission Seat 2 shall replace the two Commission seats vacated by the expiration of the term of the two Commissioners in March, 2006. The candidate for Seat 1 shall reside in the north district of the Town. The candidate for Seat 2 shall reside in the south district of the Town. The candidates receiving the most votes for each seat shall be elected, and shall serve a term of four (4) years.
(3) Commencing with the regular election of the Town held in March, 2008, and continuing with successive elections at intervals of four years, candidates may qualify for the offices of Town Commission Seat 3 and Town Commissioner Seat 4. Town Commission Seat 3 and Town Commission Seat 4 shall replace the two Commission seats vacated by the expiration of the term of two Commissioners in March of 2008. (5) The geographic boundary for the northern and southern districts shall be designated, prepared and identified no later than the first of September, 2004, and again in 2012 through a contract entered into by the Town with an accredited four (4) year college or university located within the state of Florida for the purpose of identifying and designating the northern and southern election districts within the Town. The Town Commission district boundaries shall be of equal population, compact, proportional, and logically related to the natural internal boundaries of the neighborhoods within the Town. The principal of nondiscrimination and one person/one vote shall be adhered to strictly.

The time has come to reclaim this town…with good people who will serve with the town’s interest above their own “slanted”self-serving agenda…To make the job as Commissioner a part-time job as it is supposed to be….made possible by finding top notch administrative and department heads who supply information…while working with the Commission…for the residents and the businesses to move the town forward in a well planned…well oiled manner befitting all those who chose this town to call our home!….It is possible…and it is attainable in 2010!….
