LBTS BOUND….
Holiday’s waning …with only hours left…and of course the hope that the planes are running on time…
Final day in Chicago…called for scattered morning flurries and falling temps…maybe the weatherman…called it in…but so far…so good…it hasn’t happened…
A great barometer is watching the lake from the apartment…and the ever stretching increase of ice….really fascinating…
We headed out one last time…since the President -elect is still in town…and were lucky enough to get right into the neighborhood Original Pancake House…throw back some real coffee …omelettes…..and bacon…and totally get overheated…but ready to walk it all off…with out ritual walk by the Obama house…to see if the security is extended far beyond the last time we strolled by…..before the election…….it was…
A further walk around the neighboring blocks…….revealed the great old massive houses…many redone…with large lots of land…and adjoining garages ….that are the size of houses themselves…really nice…so large they cut down on the gusts…an added plus…
Still ongoing… Chicago talk of the Governor……and the city/state politics….in the papers……on the news shows…local and national commentators alike …and bloggers posting on their own site and others…….all throwing in their 2 cents….
BACK HOME…..
We hear …the VFD has their elections next week….electing the Chief….and officers…Meetings are open to all …we were told…(any takers…to check it out?)…along with the Dec. meeting minutes being approved ….and the 3 month operating budget ….the first 3 months under contract being available…
Question is …in 2009…with the expected re-up vote for Chief Perkins…( last we heard… no one else put their name in)…will the VFD comply or will the de-facto Chief make good on his stoppage of freedom of information from the department?…
This writer will be making these requests…so we shall see….(Maybe they’ll count correctly this year?)….
As we get back in the thick of things….we will see what Commissioners will get the answers to the numerous questionable acts we have witnessed in the town…..or if it will be swept under the rug…for yet another year…..
Next week we have the Code Workshop….followed by the regular Commission meeting….Jan 13,2009……back-up material and an overview to come late Friday….
