Here’s The Scoop……Driving Away The BSO Police In LBTS?….

ARE THE MC-FURTH GANG AND TOWN MANAGER COLON PLANNING THE RETURN OF THE LBTS POLICE DEPT?…

Dear Readers …the signs are there…the rumblings are growing …that “2-Hats” are just not enough…McIntee want 3!…We hear the “Mc-Gang” is planning to replace the BSO with a return to a LBTS Police Dept. to be installed the Public Safety Complex courtesy of the Law Enforcement Trust Funds being used to fix up the Police section of the complex …They are playing up the recent news of the subsidies from the County this week in the Sentinel …http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/broward/sfl-sheriffs-contracts-053109,0,3462173.story …showing LBTS is paying 21% below the actual costs for our BSO service …Add to that the fact that although it was stated in the article that BSO Chief Lamberti had a meeting with 14 town managers, LBTS  Town Manager Colon chose not to attend!….Why not?…Even though we have a contract with BSO until 2011 the drumbeat is getting louder from the Mc-Gang with ridiculous assertions that boggle the mind on the dais from Comm. Clottey…along with behind the scenes “claims” from “Mc-Gang” members saying the BSO will be too expensive and a return to a VFD type of dept. is the way to go…YIKES!… Readers will recall the Manager’s claims that the Town owns all the BSO vehicles ..( to substantiate her reasons for the Town to purchase the 3rd VFD fire engine)…  She said it was important in the event we changed our contracted public safety providers that we own the equipment……These ongoing claims were found to be untrue when BSO Chief Gooding pointed out it was really only 3 or 4 police vehicles that were Town owned!…(No matter their are probably “funds” put away for more)…Can you all imagine yet another department under the control of the Mc-Furth Gang and Town Manager Colon…ala the VFD and the current Town administration?…

Think it can’t happen? …Think again!….

A look at the former LBTS Police Dept. website still online and found with a Google…(excerpt and link below)…shows a very scary future for us all…in the following inclusion….

‘We are thankful and ever-vigilant regarding our low crime rate. Last fall we inaugurated our first Citizens Police Academy. Upon graduation, the Town Commission agreed to financially support 30 such volunteers and a marked vehicle has been provided.
These supporters have proven to be an enormous asset in providing our officers with additional eyes and ears while these volunteers patrol our city streets – radio and cell phone equipped to report suspicious person and/or activities, “A tremendous success!’

YEP!…Another McIntee de-facto Chief “hat “to wear!……

While it is true this writer is on record, standing at the podium and speaking of a LBTS Police Dept. return …that was before I saw the light…Before I saw the personal agenda of Vice Mayor McIntee and his co-horts…and witnessed the harm that has come from them ascending to the majority power they now possess on the dais…in the Town Administration…and within the VFD!…

Readers…keep your eyes and ears open….don’t be frightened …don’t be hoodwinked….don’t be led down this path…The only way to stop it is to vote the “2-Hats” out in March 2010!….

Excerpts……

‘BROWARD SHERIFF’S OFFICE

The professional police personnel who work for the the Broward Sheriff’s Office are responsible for the enforcement of Town and Florida laws in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Chief Scott Gooding provides the leadership for a staff of almost 30 law enforcement personnel, including 20 sworn deputies.

BSO’s Lauderdale-By-The-Sea station is adjacent to Town Hall. The Town operated its own Police Department until March 2001, when it contracted with BSO to provide police services.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office takes pride in serving the Town and its close working relationships with residents and Town Hall.’

‘This is truly a small part of Paradise here in Southeast Florida. We are bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway on the west, Fort Lauderdale’s Galt Ocean Mile on the south and Pompano Beach is to our north.

Presently, our Police Department serves approximately 4,000 permanent residents and that population figure swells to nearly 10,000 during the peak winter months. There are 18 of us full time and 10 part-time officers on the Police Department. We strive to have 3 marked patrol units on each shift, never less than 2. We have the services of a Detective and a Traffic Commander who operates a Harley Davidson and also oversees the operation of our Marine Unit which is a Boston Whaler “Justice” Patrol Boat.

We are thankful and ever-vigilant regarding our low crime rate. Last fall we inaugurated our first Citizens Police Academy. Upon graduation, the Town Commission agreed to financially support 30 such volunteers and a marked vehicle has been provided.
These supporters have proven to be an enormous asset in providing our officers with additional eyes and ears while these volunteers patrol our city streets – radio and cell phone equipped to report suspicious person and/or activities, “A tremendous success!”
We will never cease trying to improve our Police service to this wonderful community.
