“A NEED TO KNOW BASIS?”…….

Here we go again….

the “devil is in in the details”……….with the acquisition of the McIntee Public Safety Center….

Have we sold the warehouse…NO…. so that money that will “make this purchase…a wash”….is just a “pipe- dream”….at present…something that looks good on paper…just like the swift numbers put on paper at the car dealership ….when they get you in that little glassed in office…. and they present you with the costs…draw a line through the amount …to make you the “purchaser” feel like you are getting a good deal!….

What happens after the “euphoria” of the purchase wears off…..BUYERS REMORSE!….

We now have a $1.77 million dollar building…that we are told was the deal of a lifetime…because it is a contingent piece of property…so rare….HMMM…

Disturbingly left out of prior information provided at previous commission meetings….the low down of what we actually bought and what we are attempting to turn it into …and at what cost…..

We now hear the architect prior to the purchase…. STILL IN PROCESS….made it clear that this was an apartment building (hotel) that would be difficult to make into an ADA  compliant government building….

It will require…an elevator…new wiring…a generator…air conditioning….the works….

and the price?…..

This agenda…asking $350 thousand to START!….

Despite Comm. Silverstone’s repeated inquiries ….that it will be just $350 thousand….the Manager made it clear…it is to START….

So let me get this straight….LBTS is going to do what were not willing to do with the Jarvis Hall enclosure…….put good money after bad….put probably a million….into an old building…for how long?….

Where is the money for this…in a “need to know” fund…that only the Manager is aware of…with rest squirreled away for her  “pet project?’…

Some of the reasons for this purchase…are more “lame” than justifiable….in this writer’s humble opinion….including the 2 stated above…the warehouse sale…”wash”…the contiguous site….the lack of a jail cell….the need to store the Town’s files once the warehouse is sold….the contract stipulation to house …PRIVATELY owned AMR…. further fodder added to this…by the Vice Mayor stating…”You can’t house a private company in a trailer.”…….a need to get rid of the trailers…illegal when they were installed and installed anyway…….. (we will still have the illegal seaside “trailers”…housing the sales office of Minto by the beach.)…no need for removal right now…….the planned location of a new garage for emergency vehicles in their place….which cannot be an illegal replacement…. would also need to comply…CHA CHING!….YIKES!

Forget the VFD Referendum……..as previously posted…it is this writer’s opinion….no future dais would dare touch their removal….political suicide…..not an option….

The Referendum required….

For the LBTS residents…the voters to have a say…in the Town Hall/Public Safety Building etc….a new complex….and a bond….Assessment…and grants to achieve doing it once….the right way…..planned….with all the “piecemeal”…”band-aid”…shortsighted money burning ideas….put on hold!….

This one…passed 4-1…Mayor Minnet dissenting….

The general consensus out here….every time Madam Mayor says no…. her political “stock” climbs….
