PUBLIC COMMENTS….
We started out with Spiro Marchellos who once again spoke about not receiving a retraction from the Vice Mayor (without naming him) for the Jan. 22nd “slandering” of his name at a round table meeting …He went on to speak of the ongoing vendetta and how while he has full faith in the VFD personnel…but he feels “insecure with fire protection” due to McIntee (again no name uttered)…and was considering “barring” the department from his property….Now unfortunately he is having problems also with Town Departments who sent a letter recently disparaging him…
A resident who has lived here for 45 years asked for a “happy town again”…speaking of the entertainment…to keep it that way…no conflict…we need to “kiss and make up”…
Ron Piersante…came to speak about Maureen McIntee…and was stopped and warned…continuing to speak on the double standard allowed in the comments from Commissioners and what the public may say…including addressing them by name…He went on to discuss what the Mayor needs to endure from fellow dais members…and the constant calls from the Vice Mayor (no name was said)…of “personal attack”…He took the time to point out that Comm Dodd took comments in stride…and did not need to respond in the “McIntee” manner…(no name said)…He saw no acts of Dodd “pounding” the table and calling for “points of order”…and finished off with a few familiar adages…”Good for the goose”…and ” Can’t take the heat…get out of the kitchen”…saying these two Commissioners are the “old guard “elected in 2006…
A condo resident came forward to talk about the VFD on beach patrol and the many observations he had made…two “buggys” going the same direction…being in the water…and the stops to “socialize” with people for 15 minutes and 35 minutes…all on the taxpayers dime…wanting a full report…to examine what they are doing…
Louis Marchellos….The town manager advised staff and the commission not to speak with us. I do not want place anyone’s job in danger or any commissioner that might feel uncomfortable to listen to me. If you do not want to here me speak, please leave for the next three minutes. .
I will procede.
The Palm club sewers are a legal issue, with litigation pending.. Back in late January, a member of the dais came up with the great idea of helping them. I do not understand how can this member of the dais go to these extremes yet at the round table meeting say no one is allowed to speak to me.
The only legal issue with the Town that we have is with the Pier sign. All non-pier sign issues, matters and concerns that we have with the Town can be resolved with the ability to speak to each other.
You have apparently seized the opportunity to allow town staff a chance to communicate with us.
We tried speaking with a senior engineer at Chen and associates and he will not speak to us in regards to the opening of the pier access road which this dais voted 4-1. This is a fact. We got a fax from Jeff Bowman pertaining to the opening of the pier access. A letter from an engineer who apparently sent it but says he did not right all the requirements which are on the letter. I would like to get to the bottom of this. Can this dais come up with a reasonable solution to this predicament.
Although not a resident, I am a business owner who has much invested in this town.
I have a right to be heard. I am a taxpayer and spend more time at my businesses in town than I do at my residence. When I am voted out of a meeting without a warning, There is a violation of my rights .
When a member of the dais goes to code enforcement and complains about an aspect of my business, There is a violation of the Town’s code. Whether right or wrong, there are procedures in this Town that should take place.
When the member of the dais is in a public forum and he is asked if he ever went to code enforcement and filed a complaint against my business, he proudly says ” I complained to code about them 4 times”. This is a fact.All the members of the dais heard this at the last round table meeting.
By not following the Town’s Procedures, the member of the dais completely undermines the other members of the dais and town staff. This is a fact and it is up to the other members of the dais to uphold the towns rules and regulations so we all can have a peaceful and enjoyable town.
The attacking continues. If we could stop all the plotting against us and take a breathe of fresh air.
We don’t need a 60 day peace truce
in this town. We need to just do our jobs and enjoy our lives and make this town a destination area and a place people would love to live in and not be embarrassed by the continual assaults and attacks on civil rights,
Peanuts Wick…gave a lecture on what point of order was used for…the legal right to use it…to say the last week was fantastic with the Town events…he then spoke about some items ..including the cost for 4th of July…seemingly asking the Pier owners (McInttee/Town targets) to “donate” the space and also asked for a set time and date to do a Town Manager review…sadly he added P & Z member Bill Hubly had moved away…
Diane Boutin spoke about the sea turtle and the lighting bringing up some very good points about 90% of the beach having seawalls that precludes the turtles from straying to the town…adding comments about the height of the buildings that keep the streetlights from shining on the beach…and explaining in all her years being on the beachfront there’s never been a problem …asking to determine where the critical areas are…such as the portal…she then spoke of the medians…the “plethora” of ideas…but reminding them about the aesthetics, substance, drainage and such issues…
Frank Herrman spoke about AMR and the VFD and the Michael Arker article written concerning his care in the BTSFuture paper…as well as his experience at the Easter -By- The-Sea event…
Bob Fleishman spoke about honest, credibility and trust being told we are in the black…and going on to speak of balance sheets, profit and loss liability and smoke and mirrors…He spoke of McIntee (no name used) being the true leader of the VFD while Chief Perkins has only the title…He called McIntee (again not by name) on his prior Comm. comments concerning a resident saying negative things about Mr. Fleishman and that man asking for a public apology for it never happened calling McIntee (not using his name)a liar and an embellisher…not credible…
Maureen McIntee…got up to speak…with an audible groan heard as she approached…speaking of unity …getting along…citizens attacking other citizens …giving the old volunteer vs non-volunteer spiel…talking about greenfest coming back due to no information…and July 4th being open to everyone…
BC- Cannot help it…one groan came from this writer…give me a break…..She of the Mc-Slapp site…Topix writer…CIC board diatribes against a fellow founding member..”attacking “articles written in the Times……Her husband with his latest non- answers to the Fl. Election Commission…etc…etc…etc…and as for 4th of July…NO POSTED MEETINGS…yet…. it says in the backup materials…Town/CIC/VFD…are in charge…So who outside of the Mc-gang Kool-aid drinkers would attempt to volunteer?…
This writer spoke up as my name was not called although I wrote my name 1st on the sign up sheet…The Mayor was kind enough to say I always signed in…I asked to speak on item 16G…4th of July…which will be addressed Mon. 4/20/09…
