Yann Brandt was last to come forward to state his position after some Commissioners questioned having him be an Advisory Board member… that would be in concert with his business endeavors…a board that could benefit from his expertise…a board that could benefit from his long list of participating on other boards and councils also¬† in an advisory capacity……What a loss this would be…coming… some say from fear that this fine young man may someday be a candidate for office whether local or beyond….Reign in the “green-eyed” monster Commissioners and don’t turn your backs on this resident’s desire to volunteer his time to the Town….

“Ladies and Gentlemen, viewers at home and members of the LBTS commission. A few months back I sent a memo regarding an environmental advisory council to each of you. Mayor Minnet stepped forward and support the idea. It seems to me that the current that the current dais takes one step forward and two steps back. Proactiveness and common sense appear to have left the dais. LBTS has potential to be a leader in everything it does. We must be the leader in Broward County, the state of Florida, and in the United States. Politics have got to stop playing a role in every decision that is made of not made. During the discussion on the advisory council, it was made clear that a member of the council should not make their living selling green products. I would have preferred to have been named by my proper name as the statement was meant for me. I happen to run a global solar company and the unique part of what I do is that I have become an expert in sustainable policy. I chair the renewable and alternative energy subcommittee for the Broward county climate change task force, act as a witness to state policy makers in their committee and council meetings, and guide members of the US congress on energy policy. My goal with the council was to help where I live as well. Same concept as hotel owners working on the planning and zoning or MPSC, or even member of the commission being on the VFD, it is not always about money. To conclude, I wish for you to move forward in establishing the council. If it would make members of the dais more comfortable in the fact that I am not it in for the money, I propose to sign an agreement to not bid on any LBTS projects while on the council or a period of time afterwards, OR you can take my word for it. You can count on my word.”

Backing up to the beginning…

Bob Fleishman came to speak about the “finger pointing” getting old…the lack on knowledge about the Charter and the Ordinances on the dais…to again speak of the money being spent to pave Tradewinds…the VFD and conflicts of interest with Silverstone and McIntee…Greenfest and being “hellbent on tracking Mr. Arthur down”…and the attorney fees for doing so….

Renee O’Neal and Charlie Leachman came to the podium each to ask for the beach parking¬† given to them and a few others..late in the evening in January…then taken away in Feb. because the “giver” the VM…messed up and took it away…only to try and “fix” it when he “woke up” to his flub…alas it failed…and now it needed to be flipped once more…The result…they will indeed get “beach permit parking” for $50 a year…separate from residential permit parking for $50 a year…Oh…and by the way just to “set the record straight”..the Manager and Assist. Manager wanted it to be known there never was “beach” permit parking it was always called residential…but now…that will be the new designation…Beach Permit Parking…Going once …going twice…

Louis Marchelos..”Good evening Louis Marchelos before anything else I would like to commend a Commissioner (McIntee) for their diligence in protecting the safety and well being of the citizens of our town. Last week ever vigilant a Commissioner (McIntee) discovered that the outdoor dining tables at Athena were about 9 to 12 inches beyond the limits of the sketch given to the city. The Commissioner (McIntee) saw this danger and went directly to Code Enforcement and filed a complaint which sent its Code Enforcement Officers out to remedy the situation. We are all safer and our towns a better place thanks to that Commissioner (McIntee). The question that I have is while the Commissioner (McIntee) is driving the VFD vehicle during his daily inspections who pays the gasoline and maintenance.while he is driving. If the VFD pays is this compensation similar to the free limo services which caused a recent cabinet nominee’s IRS trouble? Does this constitute compensation which would require a Commissioner (McIntee) to resign from the Commission?”….Louie then went on to speak of the “Cockroach” incident…previous post …scoops LBTS agenda/meeting categories)…ending with …commenting on the exchange he had with Joe Couriel at the previous meeting where Joe told him repeatedly that McIntee was God…(previous posts…scoops category)…again letting Joe in on the fact McIntee is just a Commissioner….

Next came the Maureen McIntee …to speak or not to speak….previous post…LBTS agenda/meeting category…2/24/09…

Having failed by a vote of 3-2…the next speaker came forward….

Louie’s brother Spiro…he too spoke of the “personal vendetta” …asking the Commissioner (McIntee) to “get off our back”…speaking about the egress alley access…the need from BSO to the VFD and the patrons of the Pier parking…the illegal closing of it in the 1st place…and the ridiculous 15 item requirements to get it opened…

This was when a speaker let Maureen McIntee speak in his place…previous post…LBTS agenda/meeting category…2/24/09….

A woman from the north side of town came to set the record straight about a foreclosure and the problems that occurred thus causing the new owner to be derelict in hooking up his sewer…wanting the Town to take notice…cut the guy a break and refund everything but the filing fee as is done in Pompano Beach….

Joe Couriel…the man who believes McIntee is God…spoke about the swales..reclaiming them and returning the beach permit parking …

Ben Freeney came to also speak about the swales…how after all these years of Code Enforcement ignoring them…suddenly they are front and center…and at whose expense?…

Finishing up was Yann Brandt…

more to come………
