Here’s The Scoop …..Words From The Past

GOOGLE….YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL POP UP….

BCbythesea….doing a quick Google …to clarify the CIC Recall for the “Sausage” notes part 2…this writer put in…recall parker lbts….what comes up….the news…online from a visit with then-Commissioner McIntee to the Royal Coast Condominium ( home to Mayor Minnet)….on December 7, 2006…….written on January 1st..2007….

Some interesting excerpts……..

Commissioner McIntee came to talk to residents …on a number of topics…including the Parker Recall….with Stuart Dodd….Chair of the CIC….

They met in the Social Room at 7:30 p.m.

McIntee talked to a dozen RCC unit owners…to “bring them up to date”….

He spoke of his Commissioner salary…$9700. same as then Commissioner Clark made representing the north end of town…

He made references to the Bert J Harris lawsuits…stating according to the RCC writer…that LBTS has” a very smart electorate …many people with academic degrees”…..McIntee “seems to believe the Harris Act won’t apply and the town will not be liable for the $20 million or more”…

Oriana was the next item covered …with detail about the site plan problems….and claims that “one of the developers tried to bribe him with $100.”…”Mr. McIntee went to the FBI and the State’s Attorney investigating.”…

Topic of Term limits…”surfaced”…with talk of the “effective date this would apply”….”Although the wording of the item on the ballot may not have spelled out the retroactive nature of the amendment, everyone knew it would effect the Mayor and Commissioner Yanni”…”He repeatedly said that the majority of voters (75%) voted to effect term limits. When questioned about the 75% vote, he clarified that everyone “knew what he meant” 75% of the 36% of those who voted (1350), not 75% of the entire electorate of approximately 5000 voters (3750)”…

BCbythesea…love this next one….with the current M & Ms & Fs….political climate….

Mr McIntee said, “In the past town residents have been intimidated by prior commissioners.”…He wants that stopped. HMMMM…..

And this one….

” Since Commissioner McIntee mentioned “conflict of interest” he was asked why his dual role as an officer of the Volunteer Fire Department and elected town official didn’t present a conflict of interest. Mr McIntee said the VFD was thrown out of the Town Charter a few years ago. Because VFD is not a division of the town, nor accountable to it, no conflict of interest occurs when matters about the VFD come before the Commission”…..HUH?….

and yet another one….

“With reference to VFD equipment, BSO now own the firetrucks that they confiscated. Commissioner McIntee admitted that BSO fire personnel are better trained than VFD because they are full-time personnel and can devote more hours to training. It keeps them busy…….”YIKES!

BCbythesea…a little history.. a group of us were who were on the “outs” with “don’t be telling me what to do” Commissioner McIntee.. were concerned with keeping him out of the condos….with the CIC candidates….after reading this…if accurate….guess we right!….

more to come….
