LBTS COMMISSION WILL HOLD WORSHOP
ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT REPORT

The Lauderdale-By-The-Sea Town Commission will hold a workshop on
Tuesday, April 5 at 7 PM in Jarvis Hall, where Redevelopment Management
Associates (RMA) will present its economic development report on the Town’s
Master Plan.
A Pompano Beach firm, RMA helped guide Delray Beach’s widelyheralded
economic revival, as well as economic redevelopment projects in Fort
Lauderdale, Hollywood, West Palm Beach and other South Florida communities.
Jarvis Hall, 4501 Ocean Drive (adjacent to Town Hall), is located on the
west side of State Road A1A about three blocks north of Commercial Boulevard.
The workshop meeting is open to the public and will be televised on
Channel 78, the Town’s government channel.
RMA’s presentation will address projects in the Town’s Master Plan, a
community blueprint for future Town redevelopment.
For more info, contact the Public Information Office at 954-776-3611.”

……………………..

The room was filled with more than the recent usual participants and some of those “sleepers” on the other side of the aisle made their way to the podium …including Cristy Furth former CIC Chair- present CIC board member- former CIC campaign manager- former editor of the defunct By The Sea Times- owner of the Blue Seas Courtyard on El Mar Drive …who it appears made it her business to bring along some fellow hotel/motel/time share managers+owners to speak as well against too much change in their surroundings and parking at night on El Mar Drive by the medians …Their voices were definitely heard as Comm. Vincent screwed up once again in stating RMA was not changing anything from the present special event parking allowed on El Mar by the medians …RMA ‘s Chris Brown agreed with him …Later on Comm. Clottey addressed it although she did not state it was Comm. Vincent (“another Commissioner”) …Chris Brown had to backtrack and say it was indeed more but after hearing the public unhappiness in the hall at the podium and at the break it would need to be addressed differently as they progress…As expected Ms. Furth and others questioning the changes …the impact…and the cost to the taxpayers were met by sudden “flashbacks” of days gone by pre-2010 …Consternation as well as the expected “Marjorie Evans” (former losing CIC candidate for Comm.) moment this time coming from a north side resident …who truth told is a “newbie” in this redevelopment “arena” compared to those she castigated at the podium last night for not being at the prior 4 meetings held in this process …Those she aimed her “arrows” at …like them or not…agree with them or not…were here front and center when master plans and major redevelopment were discussed time after time over the last 20-30 years …and believe me they know when’s the right time to come in for the “kill”! (of a master plan)…

A word to the wise among the new majority in Jarvis Hall attending this go-round of changing the town as we know it  …  hibernation is now over!…

more to come…
