SURVEY SAYS ….
Dear Readers … at the May 26th 2010 Round Table meeting the Town Manager spoke about a survey for salaries for Town/City Managers…This writer posted a 2007 survey used by former Comm. Silverstone that had been posted in 2009 after he tried to use it to defend Esther Colon’s contract and severance…As stated in both posts the correlation of what Colon received matched no one else with size of staff… budget of municipality…length of her service and amount of severance…This PEPIE survey has alot of gaps and does not provide the perks…the leave time accrued for these managers to allow them to really walk away with a bundle…That’s the next survey required as we prepare to hire a new permanent Town Manager and replace Town Department Heads and employees… The Commission will need to review and replace the current employment agreements and the Personnel Policy Manual and these benefits as well as severance will need to be aligned to prevent the mess we find ourselves in after the Baldwin-Colon Administrations…in which they and perhaps others walked away with monies under these “accrued leave” … that were in conflict and undeserved according to their contracts…
As we await the response from former Town Manager Colon (due June 7th at 5 p.m.) and the Commission’s decisions going forth on future hires….we will need to keep an eye on who got what when they left town … such as Colon’s former boss and predecessor Bob Baldwin…. Ousted HR/Risk Mgr. Kathy O’Brien submitted in 2009 he received $30,000 paid leave for his time in Lake Worth …(prev. post)…He was not to be paid for his 10 weeks there consulting per his agreement …Payout stubs need to be looked at to verify her July 2009 report and see if there will need to be more such reimbursement letters with deadlines going out… to payback the taxpayers …
