Here’s The Scoop … The Head Of The Snake Was Cut Off ? …

THINK AGAIN !…….

Dear Readers … If you believe by that by Vice Mayor Jerry McIntee taking a pass on running for commission for a 2nd term, the head of the snake was cut off…you have not been paying attention since this writer started this site in January 2008!…

Vice Mayor McIntee was not the head of the snake … even if he believed he was!….I was asked often who ran the show…MacMillan or McIntee in the last campaign…the answer…Marc and Cristie Furth… Read the Sausage Series (under categories) ……and you will see…that campaign…and this campaign are being run from Town Hall East (Blue Seas Inn) and are  virtually the same…(In fact this morning we are told McIntee- Clottey, [an overnighter for her unless she has left her car there while away] are at “Campaign” headquarters)…..Shortly after the last election MacMillan and wife folded …stopped their paper…(sold it to the Furths)…….due to illness  and faded away from the politics in town….Did the “snake” go away?…Nope!….Now McIntee has been taken down thanks to the VFD’s vote in December …Has the “snake” slithered away?…Nope!… Because the head of the snake is still in Town Hall East…and the body of the snake is still moving thanks to Commissioner Jim Silverstone..Let’s get this straight readers…Jim Silverstone is not some mindless child led astray by his pal McIntee …who should be given sympathy for being led astray!…Commissioner Jim Silverstone was and is a willing participant totally on board and complicit …He should be held accountable for his record as he asks to be in his interview with Judy Vik in the Pelican..He should be held accountable for his purposeful bad acts…Watch him closely on the dais…(if you are in the hall) Jim Silverstone is not a nice guy…as he smirks when he see someone being slandered…as he smiles when he sees McIntee bully residents and businesses …He is “that guy” that makes us all uncomfortable when he is the one that cannot help but laugh as someone falls down!… No “Gentleman” Jim is he!… Nope!…

Here we are in a race for commission with 2 fine family men Chris Vincent and Scot Sasser who have chosen at this juncture in their busy lives to run for the commission because while Candidates Jim Silverstone and Marjorie Evan tell reporters they want to make make LBTS a place where families can come and live…Chris and Scot have been already made LBTS  the town where they are  raising their families for 8 and 7 years respectively and it is for that very reason they have entered into this 2010 commission race!…

Candidates Vincent and Sasser are not 2 “Old Guard” members… they were not involved in any of the past politics of our Town…Scot and Chris are the “No Guard”….(no wonder the Furths are running to fearmongering)…..They are the new demographics in LBTS that come with no baggage…no allegiance to the Furths, Wardlaws…MacMillans…Parkers…or anybody else who have been fighting for so long for their own personal agendas!……

Unfortunately for these new candidates and the voters of LBTS …old habits die hard with the “one-note” Furths…and because they only know how to run one kind of campaign from their living room… they are again running a negative, fearmongering, dirty campaign to hold onto a majority on the dais…to continue their stranglehold in Town Hall!…

They are disseminating false statements of candidates wanting to raise the height limit after they are elected…( even though their Furth-lowering the heights referendum failed)…We have heard in the past few days they are actively using that as a major threat to the unknowing voters……Candidates Sasser and Vincent decided to walk around with the ordinance itself to show the voters that it is not possible to change the heights without the voters themselves and they have no desire or intention to change the ordinance or the will of the people once elected!… I have heard on the day that these candidates went out armed with the facts to calm the fears of those they meet going door to door and informing these most responsive and appreciative residents…the Furth-Fearmongers are telling voters not to believe the ordinance!…YIKES!…

We have seen already midnight marauders taking signs and moving signs …We have seen and heard of voters feeling strong- armed by Furth’s (few in numbers) faithfuls to place their signs in their yards….but say they will make up for it in the voting booth on March 9th!…

It is sad to see all this deliberate dirty politics coming from the Furths……especially when we have real issues to deal with…and need real answers from our candidates …..

Downtown LBTS has seen thus far the worst “season” in years…This writer heard from the employees of businesses in town…the owners of businesses  in town…and the renters of businesses in town they are hurting…The music in our downtown is what is giving Friday and Saturday night a fighting chance!…Yet, we are having a “special meeting” on the 21st in Jarvis hall at 7 pm to decide if the music should go on or if the current Silverstone-Clottey-McIntee majority can make a parting shot to the Saturday night entertainment by way of the sudden unfounded complaint made by one renter of  two stores… This writer observed the music last night in town…If it had not been for the Athena-101 Ocean music…the downtown would have been dead!…The complaint of shoppers being stopped by the Town required orange temporary fencing in the medians is bogus…The act of crossing in the medians is jaywalking and not allowed…I have heard the renters of the business were called and asked about the impact on their business on 2 Sat. night dates  …the reply, it is said was the impact was big….The caller to the business then told the business owner on those 2 Sat. nights…there was no music!…OOPS!… Nevertheless the Silverstone-Clottey-McIntee majority will try to turn the screws to what is keeping the downtown afloat especially this season!…It was more upsetting when I also heard last night  the employees of 101 and Aruba…and other restaurants are personally impacted by family members in Haiti being unheard from….. and we are going this route…instead?…..

We have a Manager who was given what amounts to a “lifetime” contract by Comm. Silverstone and Vice Mayor McIntee…because to terminate her will cost us over $250,000 …She has caused so much trouble for businesses and residents in her unilateral actions over the last 2 years causing dissension and chaos  ….. We saw it when music was shut down for Jazz on the Square …We saw it with the Pavilion…We saw it with the terminations of Chief Scott Gooding and Fire Marshal Stevenson…We are seeing it now in her all- out effort to terminate the Director of the Senior Center..(more on this to come)…We saw it when she bent the rules for the Silverstone-McIntee- Furth 4th of July event…and we are seeing it now in an election that she knows she needs the Furth- endorsed candidates to win to continue on with the status quo in Town Hall for another 4 years….

The Town Manager has inserted herself into the commission race first by  sending an unwarranted memo to commissioners to send in questions they want asked in the 2010 debates (prev. post)…and now by sending a memo to the commission on 1/14/10

“MEMORANDUM….

During my tenure with the Town and during the election period, Mayor Oliver Parker never allowed any political advertising during the Commission meetings.

If these rules have changed please advise. Otherwise a posting will placed in Jarvis Hall prohibiting political advertising

Thank you”

Commissioner Dodd responded ….on Jan. 16, 2010…

“Political advertising

You are absolutely correct that the podium and the dais can not be used for speeches that are considered electioneering or political advertising but I would like further clarification on the subject regarding clothing.

Wearing  Tee shirts with political slogans on the front or back has been a hot topic but under the freedom of speech I think it has been established you have the right to wear clothing bearing a political statement ( provided it is not offensive).  I also believe there was controversy over the wearing of tee shirts on election day inside a poling station.  I think I recall C.I.C. members covering up inside the polling station but it was subsequently found not to have been necessary.  I do not believe it is mandated by any town, state or federal laws to cover up one’s tee shirt when speaking at the podium even if it is probably a good idea.

Can you please ask the town attorney for a legal opinion as I’m not sure your recollection or the mayor’s recent ruling is strictly in accordance with the law before you post any notice inside Jarvis Hall.

Many thanks

Stuart Dodd”

Commissioner Dodd recalls as this writer does that the CIC wore our T-shirts in Jarvis Hall during  the 2008 election…In fact we positioned ourselves to be on camera wearing them!…T-shirts are even allowed to be worn when going to vote…. For the Manager to try  pull this along with the purported photo-op by Marc Furth with Furth-endorsed candidates in the Furth owned BTSTimes …is putting the  Manager in a precarious position …as she loses all credibility as a Town Manager who is to remain neutral and unbiased in a municipal campaign!…

Has the “Head of the Snake” been cut off…Not yet…But it will be with a new “No Guard” Majority on the dais in March 20010!…

LBTS Voters…Taxpayers …ask all of the candidates to give you only the facts and make them back them up!…

more to come….
