Here’s The Scoop … Scene and Heard Around Town …

Today from 9- Noon Community Church …Health Fair…Meet your Public Safety Providers for LBTS…and we hear the “Fab Four” will showing their support for them as well!… Who are the “Fab Four”?… Those fine men who are featured on this week’s By- The -Sea- Future cover and who each have decided to get involved for the future of this town by running for Commission in 2010!… EXCITING!…

More fun to come tonight at 6 pm Jarvis Hall Octoberfest by the new POA …new board…and new members…and the “Fab Four”…should be stopping by as Property Owners all!…. NICE!…

We hear the town is abuzz with the “stories” told by Vice Mayor McIntee and his “throwing down the gauntlet” to BSO and their investigation of the May 4, 2009 suicide…Has he gone too far this time?… A look at the video shows a very animated Town Manager caught on the microphone trying to stop her pal from digging himself in a hole… did she say “Oh My GOD!”… OOPS!…

We hear many are concerned with the Chief of the VFD admitting he let McIntee break rules with no consequences…We remind all …the VFD has elections for officers coming up early winter…and we will see if the VFD members agree with this Chief’s actions…along with those of Deputy Chief McIntee.. Also being questioned McIntee’s sudden Training officer 3 status…is he qualified to have that rating and when /where and whom did he study under…his son?… OUCH!…

We see the VFD is using the Minto construction site as their training grounds for their weekly drills…How did this come about?…Who has the keys at night to get in?…Might be a conflict for 2 of the members since Minto has asked each commissioner to meet with them over future plans of Minto’s remaining sites…Hmmm…

We see the VFD ladder truck (the 102′ $150,000 albatross)  is MIA again after that latest mishap a few weeks back with the fire hose…Maybe new lettering will be done as well?… New fiscal year new $$$$ comin’ in… CHA CHING!…

People are none too pleased over the fishing ordinance and are still letting their commissioners know…We hear they felt the “will of the people” was not acknowledged….. OOPS!…

It’s a big thumbs  down on the new Jarvis Hall podium and microphone system…all were straining and even the sign put up to “speak into the microphone” appeared to be no help…ARGHHH….

Look like Manager Colon’s RFP debacle continues on…Staff refused to read the Public Safety Complex RFPs on Sept. 30, 2009 despite 6 of the 9 bidders being present (prev. post) …The Town brought Ocampo into the fray saying they would be doing the evaluation…and per the LBTS purchasing manual it would be available for the companies in 10 business days…Because as one company reminded staff that day the companies are required to contact their bond companies within 10 days…(staff did not care)…WELL… a company contacted this writer to see what’s up and after a few phone calls yesterday (10/16)…they were available by 3 pm…PROBLEM IS…they were due on the 12th!..The reply to that from Town..The Town did not get it until the 15th!..So sending it out to Ocampo gave the Town yet another unnecessary black eye in the procurement process …by not following the manual requirements…and this time it cost us money to use outside help!… WOW!….

Prius sightings at Town Hall east…morning …noon …and really late at  night…2 commissioners out after meetings…Sunshine questions arise …when it comes to both…in the eyes and ears of many voters… GULP!…

We hear the Town Manager might be doing a little of her own detective work…We already heard some time ago that she would put on sunglasses and a hat to scope out the “open container” laws in town…incognito…Now we hear she is driving around the neighborhoods late at night?… HMMMMM….

A guffaw came from the Vice Mayor’s Town Manager Review comments when he said Esther stays at a motel in town when she works too late…He does not know the motel…We have long heard the Manager has a room at the Mc-Public Safety Complex…If true…just “consider the source”…as Ms. Colon has said herself!… TOUCHE’…

Lights on…lights off…one night we have lights at El Prado Park and the next…we do not?…Is it a timer problem?…It’s certainly a P.R. problem for those who are entering and exiting the beach!…OUCH!…

more to come….
