UNHAPPY WITH THEIR CHOICES? …
Dear Readers …the scuttlebutt going on around town is about the all important LBTS-VFD vote at 7 pm tomorrow night for the VFD Officers for the next year!… The biggest gamble of all is for Vice Mayor and outgoing Deputy Chief McIntee…He has put his name in to go head- to- head with Chief Bob Perkins….Some say the decision really threw Perkins for a loop…that he never saw it coming!…
We are hearing that there’s a 50-50 chance for either of these “Chiefs” to win from the 30+ regular members allowed to cast a secret ballot…Assoc. members are not allowed to participate…
There must be a real “pissing match” going on with lots of promises made for votes on either side…with perks and toys…vs the wrath of a certain “Chief” if he is the one to go down for the count…pun intended…
It is said that the Vice Mayor would have to resign from the Commission…but the bigger question is when?…
The election makes the winner the Chief as soon as he is elected…and according to the VFD-By-laws…(which McIntee and the VFD ignored over the last year when electing him to DP12) he cannot be both an officer and an elected official…and that is definitely the case with a step up to Chief!…
As Dep. Chief the By-laws stated he did not belong to the board and did not do purchasing (teehee)…But according to those same By-laws as Chief he is definitely on the VFD board and in charge of the VFD purchasing…therefore …he may not sit on the dais!…
Will he come with that letter that must be entered into the VFD minutes as proof that he has already resigned? Or will the VFD allow him wiggle ro0m once again? …Will the members allow his resignation letter to only be shown to them proving his intent of immediately turning it into the Town after he sees if he is the new Chief?
Or, will he be McIntee and thumb his nose at the rules yet again, and find a way to be both?…
No matter the outcome…McIntee running for VFD Chief…..is huge…for the department …the town…. and of course his ego!…
