SURVEY SAYS ……..SKEWING THE HEIGHT LIMITS……..QUESTION #12…
Dear Readers…Did you get your “TOWN -OF-LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA Residential Satisfaction Survey” yet?… It’s quite something… the Town is “conducting a resident satisfaction survey for the purposes of future planning and resource allocation.” It continues on “We value your opinion and ask that you take a couple of minutes to complete this short page questionnaire.”…How thoughtful …how innovative …EXCEPT….it was never approved by the Commission …there was no input from them….and the Commissioners did not receive a copy of it until they received in the mail (at least some of the Comms. did not know, have input or see it)… Quite something when you look back at the Commission’s role just to put a straw poll vote on the Town Topics and Town website last year for a doggy beach…
It contains 15 questions…(#13 is missing…Hmmm some superstitious” gamblers”?)…It asks you to” rate the Town as a place to live”…rate the satisfaction you have with Town services…departments/programs/ contractors -BSO,VFD, AMR/Town appearance/communication of info….it asks you to tell them your habits of visiting Town hall/Town website/shopping -how often and your experience/ rate services such as public safety/special events/ code enforcement/land us-P&Z/Town Personnel & Town Departments …recent contact experiences….
PURE POLITICS PORTION…..
#11. “What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the Town- of- Lauderdale -By- The- Sea in the next five years?”
DIRTY POLITICS PORTION!!!!!!…
12. DO YOU SUPPORT THE CURRENT MAXIMUM HEIGHT LIMIT OF 33’0″ IN TOWN?
‘The current maximum height limit in town is 44 feet or 3 over 1…voted on by the voters…the above question is the Mc-Furth Revisionist Political Agenda!…SHAMEFUL!….
TOWN WEBSITE….
Sec. 7.1. Maximum height for buildings established; referendum vote required for increases in zoned residential-district height limits.
(1) No building within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Town, as they existed on March 20, 2006, shall have more than four (4) stories above grade, and the maximum height of buildings within the Town that have four (4) stories above grade shall be forty-four (44) feet above grade, as defined in the Florida Building Code, or above a horizontal plane eighteen inches above the crown of the roadway at the highest point adjoining the property on which the building is located, whichever of those two levels is higher. The maximum height for all other buildings within the Town shall be thirty-three (33) feet’

Question 14. is on a bond issue or pay as you go method for future capitla improvement projects/ 15. asks for suggestions…
This writer went into Town Hall today and saw the decorated SURVEY BOX….and asked for a survey…..Office Specialist Nikki Smith said they had none…I would get it in the mail…I made a Public Records Request (see below) for one and for information on who made up the questions/decisions, what company put it together and costs…Ms. Smith said the staff did it internally…I said it did not go in front of the Commission and she said it was not necessary…I disagreed……
I find it unethical with an item slated for referendum (the heights) being sent out incorrectly that can skew the vote from just this mailing townwide!…
Before McIntee and Gang jump and shout …a little reminder from the past…Take a look at the minutes from April 25, 2006 (see below) where newly elected Comm. McIntee was “infuriated” by a push poll paid for by the taxpayers to see how people felt about a referendum item!…Hmmmm….
THE SURVEY….
PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST…..
COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES…APRIL 25, 2006….REPORTS…5B.
The question now, has the Town Attorney already drawn up the height referendum?…Is the wording such that it will hand the Mc-Furths a 33′ victory in March?…Guess the CIC is now doing what they fought in the past, “Jerry-Rigging” an election outcome!…WOW!….
more to come….
