We received your reply, in response to your question regarding the
command car, it will be returned to the town as soon as the new command
car is in service.

BC- Looks like the old VFD Command Car will be returned stripped down…not as it was when they got it…Hmmm.

Agreement By And Between The Town of LBTS And LBTS-VFD, INC. 9/25/08
Page 4- Article 4 Fire Protection Vehicles and Equipment
4.1 Equipment: The VFD SHALL, under a separate agreement, LEASE from the TOWN four (4) fire protection vehicles which SHALL include: two (2) Engines; one (1) Engine/Arial Device; and ONE (1) COMMAND VEHICLE, as well as all necessary apparatus for the sum of ten ($10.00) per year. Additional equipment may be leased, under separate leased agreement.
BC- The Chief (Perkins) owns his car…So the Command car is the Dep Chief’s car…and the title needs to be in the name of the Town…otherwise it appears the VFD is in breach of their agreement ….OOPS!…

We hear all is not well within the LBTS-VFD….Nepotism…favoritism….and keeping the troops in line…..while trying to throw the detractors out on their ear…
It is said that Dep. Chief McIntee has his son come in as a training officer for FF1 classes for which he is paid…
It is said that his son is going on fire calls and being compensated…BUT ….his son is not an active VFD member…He was briefly on the roster…but… not included on it in the last few months…He could not be a member due to the fact (we are informed) that any member who is gone for 6 months or longer must be voted back in…and must respond to 20% of fire calls required by each member each month…YIKES!…
Now ….we hear that to keep certain members loyal to Dep. Chief McIntee…. is giving perks…..such as lots of time on the Jet Ski…with lights flashing…the ATVs …again with lights flashing…(We hear the new lights suck the juice from the ATVs batteries)…and rides on the Intracoastal in the newly painted fire boat (the one without a pumper)…He even went so far as to put his “handpicked” special Captain’s name on the Hurricane trailer…( seen in the July 4th parade) which we also hear brought forward some snickers from within and outside of the department…for being too wacky to comprehend…
We hear that previously the department hired an outside certified and licensed contractor to do hose testing…and that contractor would hire some VFD members to help out…BUT..we hear the VFD decided to do it in-house this time……with McIntee (it is said) going behind closed doors…and handpicking his favorites…those who tow the line…usurping seniority for loyalty …including his son as one of those to make $200 and up!…It pays (pun intended)…to kiss the Mc-ring…and turn a blind eye to the ongoing antics of the Dep. Chief!
If true…. we hear that although the drumbeat of discontent is growing louder from those within the department..the Dep. Chief is actively trying to smear a fellow longtime and honored member of the department to head off any challenge to his position in January and that of his “chosen” Chief…Chief Perkins….BUT …we hear that member is not alone…that he has plenty of company…..who are being badmouthed due to balking at the latest schemes…enacted by the Dep. Chief…OUCH!…
Last night this writer heard from many in town that the VFD-Chief…Chief Perkins has been quite vocal about trying to keep the peace within the department…and also that the Chief has heard from a growing number of residents…to replace the Dep, Chief…BUT…will the Chief and the department listen?…They must be starting to realize…the Commission….and the Townspeople will support the members…just not this illegally appointed (per the VFD by-laws) Deputy Chief…….
It’s no leap of faith for them…..It’s a sure thing…the VFD is safe…the “2-Hats”…are not…next January and next March…
Keep those leaks coming members……the voters are paying attention!…
