OCTOBER 2009 ….VFD-YEAR 2 …..MORE VFD ACQUISITIONS ….
Dear Readers …”Butch” McIntee is back in town…Alas, our week long “McIntee-Free Zone” has now come to a close….He arrived home just in time to see the newest addition of the never-ending “acquisitions” for the LBTS-VFD … a 2nd “bigger” SeaDoo…for the VFD Beach Patrol…It arrived yesterday…So the members should be making a run for the beach today to have their turn!…
Wow, the coffers are replenished for year two by we the LBTS taxpayers…with a 4% increase (they turned down taking a pass at budget time per Cmm. Dodd’s inquiry…the “2-Hats” remained unusually mute)…to the tune of $73,000+ a month…and so it’s off to the races for more boy-toy gluttony inside our “small Seaside Village ” VFD….. We will see the same fervor we saw in year 1……Something new each month without fail…purchased it is said, under the “direction” and the “aid” of none other than “Butch” himself …Vice Mayor/Dep. Chief Jerry McIntee…
He told us of his “plans” on the dais …and his “Little Chief” Perkins also spread the word from the podium and on the back of the VFD-Booster Fund purchased full back page ads …(paid by Booster Fund Drive donors) …in the political CIC- Furth By The Sea Times… each edition…
The new SeaDoo #2…will be the start of his “plan” to build a building on the beach to house them…and of course that will be small potatoes compared to his “plans” for the new $3 million dollar VFD Fire Garage…if he and his pal are re-elected!… $$$$$$$….( the spot will be empty and awaiting it if a buyer comes forward to purchase the Development trailer…minimum offer $44,000…prev. post)…
The VFD is in the throes of an all out campaign to fill up their Booster Fund…with a glossy-Furth inspired mailer…Sad to say some residents (and non-residents who received it outside town limits)…will go ahead as in past years and open up their pocketbooks to keep up their tradition of supporting the VFD…remembering that small-town VFD of yesterday when it were underfunded…BUT…. today…it’s a whole new well funded LBTS-VFD in year 2…They are well paid from the taxpayers assessed close to a million dollars …for the same 66 members ( in town and out of town combined)they had when they received less than half that amount!…
Speaking of “Butch” McIntee…seems his boy…Beau was in town and working for the VFD while the old man was hitting the slots on the high seas…Again this writer asks, why McIntee insists he has no conflict of interest voting on the VFD when according to the Fl. Ethics Commission…the very same commission the “2-Hats/Broom Boys” said is all we need for ethics regulations in LBTS…The commission states a commissioner should not vote on anything that not only “benefits” themselves …BUT “benefits” a relative…Hmmm. … Beau…son of “Butch”…getting paid by the VFD!…”benefits!”… Also of note…Beau McIntee has not been on the VFD Roster as a member in months…but we hear goes on fire calls and medical calls…. double Hmmm…..
Yep, “Butch” is back in town!…
