Here’s The Scoop

A reader emailed me with an event that took place on Seagrape Drive yesterday….

a live wire that ignited a fire in trees near the courtyard of an apartment building…a wire that writhed and bounced around for 45 minutes according to his report….

police/fire/and a person the reader thinks was from FPL stood by and watched…

a woman in the apartment on the other side of the active wires was hollering with no help…another resident was in peril…almost electrocuted in their shower…

channel 10 news came…interviewed the reader…

a total of 3 buildings were electrified…

all professionals just stood around…no shut down of the power…. as the reader expected would take place ASAP

the residents were told the property was temporarily condemned for habitation….

I have emailed the reader and asked him to contact his commissioners ….call the assistant to the Town Manager…

I recall a neighbor also from Seagrape Drive came to the podium a few meetings back to complain about power outages on Seagrape…

apparently this incident again caused the neighborhood an outage for a good portion of the day…

after the last hurricane …we were told FPL had made a commitment to check all poles …

(this resident says there are prevailing problems that have not been addressed….)

was this area included?

granted the poles are about to be transferred ….

although for the amount of money spent on this project…

the lines should have been buried….

just as the utilities across Commercial on the previous Seagrape project…

hope some answers are forthcoming…. and residents are back home

UPDATE: The reader is intending to come to the commission meeting tonight…

Comm. Dodd informed me that a good portion of town was without power..yesterday…guess we were lucky over here….
