I have concerns that the excess revenues….initial…(at least I hope it is the initial) report….is skewed…
maybe a former commissioner from the north has the same concerns…since he requested the report….
although he … in my humble opinion… must have known most of what is contained previously..seeing that he is an accountant…
also, a possible visit by the same former commissioner…( that was denied )…to either look at or make copies of certain paperwork in- between the election and the new commission…hearsay…
add to that the new Mayor had an agenda item a few weeks back….to end the annexation agreement…stating it was finished…she pulled it when it came up on the dais…. why?
this methodology used by the Town Manager seems questionable…which is why I am counting on this being a first attempt at the real numbers involved…
the methodology used was from gross revenues …. heads of populations and value from properties…. percentages… north and south….ad valorem and “other” revenues… therein lies the problem…
if parking and businesses were included…they only exist in the south end of town…. with the exception of Sea Watch Restaurant
in another area monies for either the north or the south with capital improvement projects…
projects such as the pavilion ….portals….parking lots….Jarvis Hall…are whole town improvements…
while sewers and street improvements in the north are neighborhood improvements…. with the exception of A1A underground utilities….
so it seems the numbers could be much worse than the 730 thousand a year for 7 years announced.
This needs to go back to the drawing board….perhaps a second set of eyes on this…Mr. Thompson or Commissioner Clottey could present a more appropriate methodology to get more accurate answers?
I would not be surprised if the North Beach Civic association is using the requested report to come up with different results…already.
