Feb.29,2008…..Brittany Wallman…reports that Fort Lauderdale is looking to change the way they do code enforcement…now done with a special magistrate…looking towards ticketing akin to parking tickets…for non- permitted work …. and other problems found by the enforcement staff. They want to also increase their daily fines. This will undoubtedly be seen in more municipalities as they look for ways to increase revenue.
LBTS will be looking into a building department….might be to costly to the taxpayers with the downturn in real estate, and the reportedly empty Home Depot and Lowes stores…. lacking in customers even on Saturdays.
One idea was to do the permitting in town….might be the way to go for now.
