Each month a newsletter is available at Jarvis Hall and at the Chamber with statistics…. budget time is upon us….LBTS supports the Chamber to the tune of …
35 thousand a year…a building ….surrounding property…
in a previous post…www.flsentry.com
J.P. Bender archives an article about Chambers of Commerce being obsolete in the internet age….
looking at the statistics here…the cuts of service that will come to us eventually from the passage of amendment 1 ….some adjustments need to be made….
Is it still viable to support the chamber in the same way…could we make better use of the building which clearly shows a steady decline in actual foot traffic vs. the internet?
A suggestion from a reader …in earlier suggestion post…a storefront on Commercial may be an option……. more volunteering from the community …less need for salaried employees….option of finding a paying tenant for the valuable building and property to add to the towns revenue …such as the US postal service.
Something to consider….and their books must be opened for at least the last 4 years before any deals are made this year.
This has not been the case in the past.
