BCbythesea…this is #2…the Commission and the Town Manager should be on the same page this time…with direction coming from the Commissioners to the Town Manager…not visa-versa….

BCbythesea…hope it will be thumbs down to the building dept….and raising the millage….boardwalks…

Thumbs up to infrastructure …sewers…sink-holes…and the like….

Pavilion is a done deal…as is the hotel….so don’t hold your breath for a change of heart….

BCbythesea…what’s the deal with the approved liens?….Are there more?…..What happens now with the properties and the upkeep?…

VFD….

BCbythesea….Why the news announcement for more volunteers beyond the residents asked at the last meeting?….How many will be on duty?…Where will they sleep…on duty?….How many venues do you need…once the hotel is purchased?….

BCbythesea…let the VFD Chiefs be the ones to speak throughout….it’s time….

Town Manager Report….

BCbythesea….might want to fill in the residents with your “plan” for the sale of the warehouse….and how the logistics will work after the Town purchases the hotel….what personnel will be housed where…the time line for refurbishing the hotel…and the trailers….

BCbythesea…what is the status of the staff’s educational…professional requirements for the jobs they are doing?….Why anger management for staff as posted on the Jarvis calendar board a few weeks back?…Does the Town need to address the “savings of money” for 20-30 hours staff VS…40 hour employees?…

Here’s the biggie…will the Town Attorney be right after the Town Manager…requested yet again by the Vice Mayor?…

BCbythesea…if this happens…it will be a 3fer….for the Vice Mayor to get his “side” out to a larger audience….earlier in the evening….maybe it’s time to move it up permanently…just as the Town Manager Report was?……

9. Ordinances..

1st reading…Ordinance for a Referendum…. to make it so it will be up to the voters to decide whether to terminate the VFD in the future…put forth by the Vice Mayor…

BCbythesea….this writer agreed with Comm. Clottey…to hold off until the VFD were a “known” commodity once more…to voters…being active in the Town’s fire safety…giving those in the condos and in the north time to accept them….jumping the gun once again?….it might be a squeaker…. and some may vote it down as reverse payback for the Chamber….lowering or cutting off funding/possible move from the present location….

2nd reading….providing certain text amendments to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan from 2005…

BCbythesea…should be tabled per request from staff….good…. the Commission needs to see what in the Comprehensive Plan they want to keep or discard….

BCbythesea…this should be interesting…after the Vice Mayor was challenged about his “idea” for the Chamber…here and in the Pelican article and Editorial….previous posts….

a. July 4th expenditures… the sand sculpture was supposed to have been a donation from the hotel we bought ….so this $1300…might be incorrect?…

b. Special permit Reef Clean Up Holiday…7/26/08..7 a.m.-10 p.m.

c. BCbythesea…..This one is tricky…for the Commission…Minto who just returned our El Prado parking lot on A1A-El Mar…want to pay $540 per day for using 45 spots from now until 12/31/08…

The money or the Publics’ use of the spaces?….

d. Law enforcement trust fund…Chief Gooding…

BCbythesea….The BSO drug money that should go for the 1st 6 security cameras in town …..

e. Awarding the pavilion construction contract to Coastal Contracting…for $370,810.00…as previously posted…one of 5 who bid…they were the lowest…according to Assist. to Town Manager….this company was checked out by the Town Attorney and Engineer..in the time between the bid deadline and this meeting…

BCbythesea…Did we get the grant extension from Broward County a few weeks back?…How much?…The deadline is when?….Oct. or Dec?….Are all the permits back from environmental agencies?When do you get together with the businesses nearby the project…for a smooth working relationship?….

BCbythesea.. take the plunge…VM….admit it was an “idea” you heard…ask for the specifics on the Chamber …the building…the costs etc…table it….

c. To direct the Town Manager on the “user fees” for Jarvis…

BCbythesea…Town manager is “begging” once again for the Commission…to dump this never enforced Resolution #1254…adopted in 1995….dump it….

d.Assistant to the Town Manager is asking for direction on the doggy beach…

BCbythesea…must part ways with Comm. Dodd on this one…not the right time to pay the costs involved to change the Ordinance….if the Town Attorney thinks a trial can be done without such expense…do it behind the Yacht club…and use the parking at the Chamber for those evenings…also be the “leader” on it as Mayor Minnet is with the Adopt Our Streets…without staff involvement….

e. Master Plan Direction and Goals…Comm. Silverstone…

BCbythesea…hopefully the Town Manager will answer this in her report….an Agency…with their commission…will take a large “bite” out of the “swap” we were told would happen with a buy of the hotel/sale of the warehouse….

Also heard the thought is the sale will cover any remodel…with an agents etc….don’t see how….

m. Approval to waive certain fees for the 1st performing arts company to use the hall on a trial basis …
