A RESPSONSE LETTER FROM FORMER LBTS-VFD BATTALION CHIEF POINTU AND MORE….

UPDATE…I received this letter from Patrick this morning…and while awaiting his response to my reply on publishing it…I ran across the street to pick up the local papers…The Futures and The Pelican…

Front page of the Futures…’VFD ROCKED BY INTERNAL DISPUTES, CHARGES AGAINST MCINTEE’ …

Front page of The Pelican…’LBTS town manager irked at commission for ‘asking questions’…

Page 12 of The Pelican….’LBTS vice mayor accused of ‘intimidation’ by former fire administrator’….

upon picking up the paper at CVS…who was out in front…. Patrick Pointu…he asked me to print his letter…”to make it clear he supports the VFD just not Jerry McIntee”…and that statement is reiterated in today’s Pelican…”Jerry is good when you need to fight a war, but now he is a liability.”…

Mr Pointu was friendly as usual despite the “circling the wagons” of McIntee and his gang….

This writer has heard that Vice Mayor McIntee has threatened the Pelican and the Sun Sentinel… also doing a report on the VFD….by going into the Sentinel office and trying to intimidate the reporter by going to her boss…if this is true…the Manager may want to distance herself from McIntee NOW!….

With the front page story…about the Manager and her possibly being in the dark on these charges of VFD insubordination…intimidation…illegal firings…and much more…she not only has her job as the sole oversight authority of the VFD on the line…but as the Town Manager of LBTS!…

Heads should be rolling from Town Hall and….a full suspension should be in place for the Vice Mayor in his VFD duties…pending the outcome….

more to come….

THE LETTER/THE RESPONSE….

Dear Mrs Cole,

I was informed that you published on your blog the resignation letter I
wrote last month.

I have sent this confidential email to only to 15 officers and directors
of the VFD. I never authorized to publish or distribute it out of these
15 persons. The intent was to let the VFD management solve this issue,
if they believe that it is an issue, from in within the department.

Jerry McIntee has done a tremendous amount of work for the VFD and he is
one of the few members we can thank for the return of the VFD. I just
stated that I was not able to work with him anymore. My different with
him does not diminish my strong belief that the VFD is competent and
reliable to accomplish all of its missions. I just wish that more would
have been done during the last six months.

However by putting out publicly internal struggle you will only
exacerbate the tension and prevent the VFD to serenely deal with it.
When a community feels attacked, its members are all temporarily united
against the common threat. While they are fighting, they won’t have time
to deal with their inside problem. By putting pressure on the VFD and
adding public scrutiny, instead of helping to solve a problem, you are
just delaying its resolution.

Please let the VFD deal with its organization by itself and judge its
performance only on what matters: are the emergencies responded to
efficiently and timely. As a resident of this Town I don’t care who is
in charge of a fire scene as long as the fire is handle properly. If you
want to be involved in the internal organization of the VFD then please
become a member.

Sincerely Yours,

Patrick Pointu

Patrick, I received it and was told that various news organizations had several copies from various sources. That it will be reported in at least 3 publications. However if you would like me to I will publish this letter.I believed it was public information. It is up to you.
That being said, my issue is not so much with who might be going after who…physically, which I agree should be handled internally… but I am concerned as a resident…a taxpayer …with the possibility that 2 sitting Commissioners may have knowingly asserted as elected officials a readiness of the VFD to the public contractually that may not have been true. Also that the Manager as the oversight person did not know what was going on with your departure and Scot Fowler. I await your response, Barbara Cole
