“LITTLE BIRDIES IN LBTS …

Dear Readers… Back from the windy city… and happy to report …”little birdies” all around LBTS kept this writer well informed of happenings…planned and unplanned in our little town…A big thanks to you all! …

We hear the CIC  will be having a fundraiser on Saturday, November 21st, 2009 at the Surf  and Yacht Club in south end of town on Palm Avenue. They say to bring a friend and come join in the fun and to help elect two Commissioners and a Mayor who will support keeping our Town the charming seaside community we came here to enjoy. Dinner, drinks and music will be provided. They hope to see you there….BUT…

We also hear that the members of the Surf and Yacht Club have asked for it to be stopped!…

We hear that many of the members do not like their club being used for a political faction in town…They want no more CIC meetings in their private, non-political club….OUCH!…

So where will the fundraiser be?….

All bets are the LBTS Community Church will be the site for this spur of the moment CIC Fundraiser…..That is if CIC President Bob Roberts follows the wishes of the Surf and Yacht Club. Why the Community Church? ….It’s where Cristie Furth has been seen preening and politicking for a possible run as commissioner if she can do what she could not do last time around in 2008 and get someone else to run for Mayor!..(“Spreadsheet” Silverstone)…The dwindling CIC  membership and those who are still receiving newsflashes and this invitation …many who are long overdue on paying their annual CIC dues, with no intention of ever paying them again…received the invitation this last weekend…just one week prior!…OOPS!. They need this fundraiser especially after a look at their recent required CIC filing that  show they had a paltry $2000 in their coffers…and nary a new member joining since Jan. 2009…Those newly enlisted members in January were from one south end of town condominium, courtesy of a relatively new member’s effort in signing up her neighbors…and of course VFD members…who most likely told to join by you know who or else!…

Still roiling around this town…is the rumor of the Clottey-Parker fast food friendship that produced an “all is forgiven?”…from “Clueless” Commissioner…toward “Mr Oliver” the man the CIC tried unsuccessfully to recall just a few short years ago…Making friends over a “Big Mac”?…Was the Commissioner given the heads up by the CIC board to make nice and offer up a vote to return Parker to the Hillsboro Inlet?…A few meetings back none other than Mrs. “Truth Deflector” McIntee,  a CIC board member and wife of the then- Commissioner who spearheaded the CIC’s effort  to get rid of Parker at all costs……spoke of Parker’s keen ability to keep decorum in Jarvis Hall!…Strange bedfellows indeed!…Desperation all around in the CIC …or devious dirty deeds…Mc-Furth style?… We hear Parker actually believes Comm. Dodd was the one who “spearheaded” his recall…WRONG!…Comm. Dodd was the Chair of the CIC and that is the only reason his name appeared on the action…Parker has already lost all credibility in the Palm Club…letting the “cat out of the bag” on its private property status after he had no backing for another run at Mayor in 2008….Is he really willing to lose it throughout the rest of the town…joining forces with his nemesis?….If so… that will be some story!…(What fun those tapes will be to put on…McIntee vs Parker 2006-2008!)….Where’s Ken Wardlaw in all of this?…Seething we imagine!……And what about Clottey’s friend, John Thompson…and the former Editors/Owners of the BTSTimes?…Have they too witnessed the sudden closeness that is said to be?…Commissioner Silverstone quit the Optimist Club a few years back …He did it on the dais because he would no longer be on something Parker was on!…Has he joined Clottey..Furth…McIntee and the CIC to make up with Parker?…WOW!..

Now, for those who say…this writer is now talking to those who were the opposition in 2008 …there is a big difference…I did not know all the facts…blinded by the “kool-aid” ..But McIntee-Silverstone- Furth-Clottey- Wardlaw-MacMillan- CIC- VFD and Parker…any laying down of arms…after the demise of the VFD…the recall… and so much more…can only add up to one thing…POWER AND PAYBACK AT ALL COSTS!…PERFECT!…

We hear the Town Manager made a big blunder and the Town Atty. was none too pleased…The Manager distributed the first Ordinances on the referendum items to the commissioners…OOPS!…It was not to be distributed yet!…After a call to the Atty. from some of those commissioners…we were told the Manager most likely received “THE” call!…But anyone who really believes this Town Atty. would let the Manager have it…is sorely out of touch!…From what we have seen on the dais…it’s clear..the TM is the one that calls the shots!…Sadly, many have observed the lack of direction found from the Town Atty. to the commission when asked…almost never offered independently…There is the over direction seen in the Town Atty.’s work product…Such as the ITB/RFP changes in the the Purchasing Manual that were not as the commission voted on…(more on this to come)… no doubt this will continue until March 2010….

Do we have a little “McIntee” in the VFD Dept.?…We hear on Saturday night there was a fire at a condo in the south end of town…and later on a car accident near Palm ave…..The Command car came barreling down Commercial Blvd….Lights and siren blaring…took the corner of A1A and Commercial turning right and almost smacked into 4 cars!…It is said the cars were honking their horns and pedestrians witnessing it…were aghast!… It was not the Deputy Chief ,we are told …it was his “Protege’ “Captain Miko Angeles… We have heard also the ladder truck was out and about …at places it could be of no need or use……such as auto accidents…and Midnight calls or tours at the Pier…If the “birdies” are correct…looks like this Captain is following his “Trainer 3’s ” footsteps….giving many inside and outside  of the department much to be concerned and angry about!… Where was the “Little Chief” Perkins? … He of the 15 second average response time?…YIKES!!!….

The event of the week was at Interior Digs…… with lots and lots of “tweets” coming  from those attending it …..pics and more …to come in the next post!…

Reminder … tomorrow night …( open to the public/ televised on Comcast Ch. 78)….Nov. 17th…7 pm Jarvis Hall Master Plan Steering Committee ….That is unless there is a sudden cancellation…due to  lack of MPSC members….Will the CIC contingency of the MPSC be unable to attend…busy looking for another Sat. venue for their fundraiser…if their President Bob Roberts listens to the Surf and Yacht Club Board and puts the kibosh on it!… Hmmmm….

REMEMBER IT’S NOT POLITICAL … Hmmmm…

Dear Readers …I had intended to do as I did last year and write what a great amount effort went into the 2009 LBTS Halloween Event at the direction of the Furths … I had intended to do as I did last year and speak of the hours spent on this production and the incredible man hours put in once again by that small knit CIC group that are very generous with their time each year in accommodating the Furth’s perfectionism and their countless artistic changes during the annual 3 week process in getting the many props just so … I was going to write of the service this town does for all the neighboring communities who come in droves to partake of Lauderdale By Sea’s generosity in time and talent along with taxpayer funds… And while that is all true  this year as well as all the last such Halloween extravaganzas …This time it was marred by politics…Blatant…biased politics and an in your face encounter with one half of the event coordinators…Marc Furth…

Before the event began this writer was contacted by those who happened by the park, only to observe banners being used for Commissioner Silverstone, the CIC (a political action committee) and the By The Sea Times… What gives these resident asked?…We were told by Commissioner Silverstone and Vice Mayor McIntee that this was not a political event…Well obviously Comm. Silverstone, Vice Mayor McIntee, the CIC and the By The Sea Times decided to not abide by their own rules…

I had thought of wearing an old CIC t-shirt as my costume…along the lines of the latest editions of the BTSTimes…and all their “FLASHBACKS”…But I was having 2nd thoughts…That is until I got the tips that something rotten was brewing this Halloween in LBTS… So I went with the T-shirt and added on the back a a combo of the “WHO DO YOU TRUST” photo-shopped blimp on the last cover of the BTSTimes (prev. post)…their last edition with the old Villas By The Sea on the cover below the blimp and  I put it on top of the last cover of the BTSFutures with the 4 new commission candidates ready to run against the incumbents…McIntee and Silverstone… A point made by wearing a “costume” of the CIC’s past and the Town’s Future…sans the CIC…

As we approached the event near Publix a loud booming voice came throughout the town, it was Vice Mayor McIntee …saying how long until the event and that he was going sound the VFD siren…( to be used for emergencies only…such as disaster)…People came out of their homes…it was quite a site…most were disturbed and were anything but pleased… We arrived at the park to hear the siren go off..and go off …and go off…as people looked around in disbelief…It continued on throughout the event…this unnecessary disturbance of the noise level wafting way beyond the boundaries of the event itself in the tiny town park…….It was such a display of overbearing self- aggrandizing that even the VFD “rank and file” were looking at the Vice Mayor’s actions and shaking their heads….as he kept saying “This is Vice Mayor McIntee”……over and over again…

As we made the rounds through the maze in the park…We looked at the 3 banners and thought, it was not a smart move …It was very unfair …It was just not right and totally inappropriate..but then desperation does make for inappropriate actions … and from what we have seen around town going door to door… the Mc-Furths have much to be desperate about…

As I stood by the BTSFuture table, the paper with no banner, though they have one…. (they play fair)…BTSTimes Editor, Town Photographer, VFD Photographer, Event Coordinator, blue Easter egg dye suspect,Marc Furth came by and said hello, ( because my husband was standing next to me)…I did not answer…He said you’re not going to say hello? I answered why? …I have no reason to speak to Marc Furth…But he would not accept that and move on… Instead he chose to get in my face and try to say he has never done anything to me..(yeah, right)….I told him this was not the time or the place…He continued and said he was once my friend and never done anything to me…(yeah, right)…I am sorry to say I answered, I couldn’t help it …I said, “come on!” (as give me a break!)…He went on to say the only reason I was mad at him is because he is friends with Jerry…(yeah, right!)… I just looked at him like he was nuts..(and he is!)….He kept pushing, and I finally said he was being disingenuous and untruthful…and again said this wasn’t the time or the place…Then he said “You write all lies”…and I responded “See! Now why should I say hello?”….He walked off…but then  he then kept trying to take my picture … Later as I was with my husband he again got in my face and took the photo, I told him he did not have my permission to put my picture in his paper, he told me to sue him. He said he could sue me for the lies I write, I told go ahead…as there is nothing I have written that I cannot back up…and much more I have kept quiet….(He knows it)… So if he goes forth and puts my picture in his paper…so be it…It will fit right in…It will just be another BTSTimes ” flashback” to the 2 years my life that I spent wearing a CIC shirt, drinking the CIC kool-aid and thinking he was a good guy…who wanted the right things for this town…just like his pal Jerry and his pal Jimmy…

The Furth’s BTSTimes said…”WHO DO YOU TRUST?”….The same guys who said this Halloween event would not be political?…….Nahhh……

Time to open your eyes voters …and think twice who you say “hello” to….

RIP…

Dear Readers … unless they move it after this is is posted …out in front of this year’s 3 week , $4000 Halloween production at Jarvis Hall is a headstone that says “RIP Marc & Cristie”…. A few readers have made mention of it already wondering if it was a prank by the Mc-Furth opponents or if it means something else?… First of all it’s not new..it’s been on display in the back room among others with local names on them as well….found after going through the haunted hallway to where the coffin is… The placement this year, as of right now at least to this writer…may be another  “sign”…pun intended …. of the “Last Gasp” to retain the past they want at all costs….while knowing the tide is turning…

The Furths may be successful in their “Last Gasp” campaign which is how I will refer to the March 2010 election in LBTS…( the term is thanks to an observant pal, intuitive observation)…by getting the height referendum back on the ballot…That would be a shame…under the “guise” of “clarification” ..You heard that word come from the Furth commission “devotees” on the dais less than 24 hours after the Oct. 26th Referendum Workshop when it seemed the 3 (McIntee, Silverstone and Marc Furth besotted Clottey) were faltering from the 33 feet issue that THE FURTHS  NEED IN THIS ELECTION… If they can’t get it…they do not have an issue to run on, at least a tried and true  Furth issue….. So in what appears again to be totally a disregard of Sunshine  all 3 came to the dais on the 27th to say “clarify” the 33′ height limit in town…WOW!…

Ms. Furth spoke of  working with “co-sponsor” Oliver Parker…and all 3 commissioners were involved in the one or more past renditions of the same issue…and now they need it again?…Why?…..The Furth’s want it ..Cristie wants it…so is she wants it…Marc wants it and to keep Cristie happy…..Marc will besot Clottey and pal around with Jerry and Jimmy…same as in the past….that’s why!…

This writer, as readers know was a part of the last 2006 height campaign… and was caught up in delivering with fervor erroneous information “buried deep within” the backup of those 75 words on the ballot…We were told by certain  CIC tin charge to tell those in the south who really did not care about the north end’s  15 story height that if the south let it get passed then the commission would have a right with their majority  vote to raise the heights in our end of town..Eeeeks…. It was scary stuff….BUT…it was not true!… What will the CIC-Mc-Furths come up with this time?…And do they have anybody left to carry out erroneous information?….The numbers for their organization clearly show the CIC has indeed dwindled down to a membership of new members in January 2009 coming from a new members apartment building in the south and the VFD…along with a smattering of old timers …..very telling of the downfall from out in front watchdog group to cheerleading for Jerry’s tired tales …

There are some things that matter more than 33′ in this town…and that is the change in our demographics  and what Paul Novak President of the Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Master Plan Steering Committee, and longtime hotelier in town brought out at the end of the Oct. 26th Referendum Workshop…with the 33′ feet we will have no more hotels…we will become a residential community …..

I moved to this town 10 years ago…We bought a 3 bedroom condo in Sea Ranch Club after living for 6 years in Pompano Beach on the Intercoastal …We had originally moved here from the North Shore of Chicago and missed terribly the ability to walk around …into town..to the store etc…to eat and to be entertained…something we could never do in Pompano… Lauderdale By The Sea in 1999 as a new resident was a wonder to behold ..It was vital…It was busy…It was beautiful…It was a sort of contagious bliss…and it came from the tourists who were here for however long days, weeks or months…… The hotels and motels were full…Mack Groves was bustling with longtime devotees as well as newcomers who sat lined up in chairs happily and contently observing the sunshine, feeling the ocean breezes and smugly acknowledging each other in this shared experience… It was really something…it was heaven…

Now we no longer have Mack Groves, no chairs…no congregating of tourists and locals alike in acknowledging anything close to what we had back then… It’s not because we have development of 3 taller buildings that have gone up on El Mar Drive… It’s a loss of vitality in the commercial areas that bring about the current dismay…and the ongoing construction that mucks up the marvelous vistas for those that chose this town for  their vacation destination…

I do disagree with my friend Commissioner Dodd  and others who believe 33′ or 44′  with no equipment or pools on the roofs…It’s too constricting and it can be done to keep it aesthetically pleasing……I disagree with getting rid of all of the “Overlay Districts” forever…and quickly realized as I have written before that the Mc-Furth CIC “sweep” of repealing them right after the CIC win on the dais in 2008 was not thought out well, ( former CIC board member John Thompson tried and was defeated in warning us of the fallout ) …but a “knee-jerk” reaction that was orchestrated by the Mc-Furths who had their own “agenda” to stack the town boards with CIC pals and thwart any and all attempts to fix the demolition of “overlays”  without realizing the consequences…

We need a “Hotel Hospitality District”…and we need business people like Mr. Novak to assure that tourism remains in our town…We need an “Entertainment Hospitality District” to ensure that business remains in this town…and that includes getting rid of the parking requirements as Mr Novak himself discussed at a MPSC meeting  months ago…(prev. post)…

It strikes me as really funny that the Mc-Furth- Silverstone -Clottey contingency of the dais with their pal Manager Colon want to have a “Recreation” program for “our kids”, our “families” …but will do nothing for the “entertainment” of the larger new group of residents in this town, the younger ( not seniors) home buyers without kids who are looking to dine in town…and spend money…

Without the parking requirements…Mr Novak has assured us the storefronts would be filled with coffee shops, cafes, galleries and more…and I  wholeheartedly believe him…

Last night we had dinner at the new Vietnamese restaurant in town, Basilic Vietnamese Grill on Commercial  Blvd.  (the old Tedesco location)…and by 7 pm it was full with patrons waiting outside..There would be no way they all parked by the restaurant…They came as we did, by foot…from home and from nearby parking lots…But it was not something they even mentioned…They came for the food…imagine that!.. That’s what I’m talking about…throughout the downtown…to the east and to the west of this new restaurant…We could be a destination for more scenes such as this…

We are headed into the most important juncture for this town 10 years since my arriving here…This 2010 election will lead to who decides who will sit on the Town boards and committees…and who will have the say of the 10 year Comprehensive Master Plan for what this town becomes…  Despite disingenuous accolades made a few meetings back by Vice Mayor McIntee to Sandra Booth…(The VM disparaged Mrs Booth’s reappointment to the MPSC in 2008, joined by Comm. Silverstone…despite the FACT that Mrs Booth as past  MPSC-Chair had brought so much to the town in that role… including the Art Institute students who provided the original Beach Pavilion ….Incredibly, Comm. Clottey and Town Manager Colon disparaged Mrs. Booth as well, when they prepared for the ribbon cutting of the Beach pavilion…both actions were “orchestrated” by the Furths)…If we maintain the “Broom Boys” majority  up on the dais…we will see 2 more years of the same…

The MPSC in the last 2 years have been a waste of time, 2 giant steps back in progress for this town….It was canceled for lack of participation in conflicts of scheduling whether it was the CIC-VFD 4th of July or a CIC monthly meeting…( most members on the board are old-time Mc-Furth CIC pals) and as for direction from the dais to get a move on a new Master Plan in 2008-2009 …to get the old plans down off the  “shelves” somewhere…forget about it.!..Despite Comm. Dodd’s many attempts to provide it,  by going to the meetings or directing staff from the dais….the Mc-Furths and the Town Manager ignored and criticized…even calling Dodd out of order for “going there” and “directing”on his own!……They got what they wanted in the end… the MPSC did nothing… The Planning and Zoning which could have met throughout the past 2 years…not just when an applicant required a ruling… …has met less than a half a dozen times…At this month’s meeting they approved the minutes from the last time they met …last April!….

Is that what the voters want?…Nahhhh…..

We, the voters  need to see that this really is the “Last Gasp” election for the small-minded selfish Mc-Furths…. It’s time now to get a healthy dose of new blood on the dais…who will provide from the new demographics in town new blood on the Town boards and committees as well …. It’s the only way to ensure that we find in 10 years time we again have a LBTS Tourist destination locale that makes us, the majority in town …. all realize the “Last Gasp” election in 2010….was just that …”The Last Gasp”…and we  the voters…banded together to stop the demise of what brought us here in the first place…

RIP Cristie & Marc…. RIP…..(politically that is)…

NO ISSUES … NO SUPPORT … CAMPAIGN 101 -”SCARE TACTICS” ….

Dear Readers… As you walk around town and see the latest “Halloween” issue of the Mc-Furth BTSTimes… It’s an orange colored “fish wrapper” of Furth Politics …. From the couple who are the real “Old Guard” in LBTS… (as one reader pointed out)… for all the political races they had a “hand” in… from both sides of the aisle…throughout the years…

For the upcoming campaign for Commission 2010… CIC support is down…the old “standard” issues that gave them big wins…are null and void…(they’ll find no argument from their Commission opponents on the VFD and letting the people decided once again the  proper height limits townwide) …So what to do…what’s left… “scare tactics”…and to try and “feign” ignorance of all such activities in the past…

So, as you read the Editor Furth’s BTSTimes “Editorials” and “Opinions”…when you encounter her with that “smile” on her face……as she joins more town clubs….. waltzes up to the podium”cheerleading”  her  Town “events”…and  (we hear) possibly throws her own “hat” in the ring for Mayor…in her efforts to keep a tight hold on being “Town Hall East” for another 4 years ….make your move….and  take a quick look behind her back… for those fingers  she has crossed may tell you a whole different story!…”Scare tactics”…

WITH KNOWLEDGE AND FACTS … COMES CLARITY….

AN OPEN LETTER….

Dear CIC- “FOG” (FRIENDS OF GANG)….As a past “FOG”…may I offer you a way to see the sunlight…to breathe fresh air again…and to not be stuck in the fog…

I was like you only a short time ago…letting the Mc-Furth “Gang” have the final word…from the dais…in the BTSTimes…and at CIC meetings…not looking any further…having my judgment “clouded”…and buying what was being sold “lock, stock and both barrels”…

It was easy…it was inclusive…and it seemed the right thing to do at the time…UNTIL…

I began to see the cracks…to see the implausibility in what was being espoused…and DARED to voice an opposing opinion…(see the How the Sausage Was Made cat.)

Such an act of “dis-loyalty” opened the floodgates of disdain…..You’re with them (CIC) or you’re branded …”OLD-GUARD”…. in order to keep the remaining “FOG”s… in place!..

Never did I see what was coming with the change in majority in 2008…the underlying bad acts that would come from it……The brazen disregard of what I thought we fought so hard to change…..There is no “political assault”…There is only accountability…just as there was for their predecessors…

The Town Manager is accountable for her positions…..her actions….her hiring and firing…her financial decisions……and fulfilling or not fulfilling her duties…just as it was for her predecessor…

The Commissioners are accountable for their positions…their votes…their actions…and doing or not doing the will of the people…just as it was for their predecessors…

The CIC is accountable for their positions…..how they promote themselves… and who they do and do not support…

UOT is accountable for their positions….how they promote themselves…and who they do and do not support….

The local papers are accountable for what they print…

This writer is accountable for what I post…

So think very long and hard about how you , a “CIC-”FOG” member are being  being positioned……In this former member’s opinion….There is no “all out political assault against three CIC-endorsed Commissioners: Clottey, Silverstone, and McIntee as well as Town Manager, Esther Colon by the old-guard political machine.”..as CIC President Bob Roberts has written…(in fact is he not doing the very same in his quest for accountability with the ” Hillsboro Inlet Battle” on pg. 20 in his own BTSTimes?)…

There is no “old-guard political machine”…they are long gone…

What there is, this election…. at this point in time are … taxpayers…voters ….homeowners….residents…and businesses…..and new candidates…who have witnessed or been impacted personally from decisions  and actions that have come from their Town elected officials and their Town Manager…on a plethora of issues…that has brought each and every one of them to decide they must not let this continue on without accountability!…

Funny thing …as a former CIC-”FOG”….it’s the very same thing that brought I and other former “FOG”s (the many)…….to the CIC not so long ago when the CIC actually stood for doing just what they now want to prevent others not aligned with them from doing now!…

LET THE SUNSHINE…..NO FOG……

Dear Fellow CIC Members:

We are heading into a very busy time. The March 2010 Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Commission campaign season is almost upon us and, as the candidates begin to announce, we must be ready to skillfully gauge who will deserve the valuable endorsement and support of the Citizens Initiative Committee.

Starting next week members of the CIC, must also be ready to go to work once again to defend against what has become an all out political assault against three CIC-endorsed Commissioners: Clottey, Silverstone, and McIntee as well as Town Manager, Esther Colon by the old-guard political machine.

We need our members to attend the Town Manager?s Review on Monday, October 12 at 4 pm at Jarvis Hall and, if it moves you, to publicly say a kind word about Esther Colon who has been unfairly attacked and harassed to no end by these people.

We also need our members to start coming back to Commission meetings again and stand strong in our right to the Lauderdale-by-the-Sea we love and worked so hard to protect, preserve, and enhance over the years. Please come to the Tuesday, October 13 Commission meeting, 7:00 PM in Jarvis Hall. 6:45 if you wish to sign up for public comments.

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, October 20 at 7:00 PM for the next CIC general meeting at the Surf & Yacht Club. We will be serving wine and cheese, organizing volunteers for the Town Halloween party, and planning for our exciting campaign kick-off event!

We know everyone is busy but we cannot stress enough the urgency of the situation before us. Please make every effort to participate, our future depends on it.

MAYBERRY …was a back-lot on a TV Show… But the Police Department did have a jail cell!

The Editors would like everything to stay the same…no development… and everything is “black or white”…any “re-development” is PRO-development…Pretty scary stuff that re-development…I would ask the Editors who asked the Editor of BTSFutures about what “pro-development” has done for LBTS to get their “frightening” facts straight…Ocean Terrace Condominiums and the Seaward have been just as stagnant in their building as the new development properties …..”dust-cobs galore”… it’s called a lack of funding!…. Take a walk at midnight, the  “ghost tour” and see the decaying, foreclosed  buildings all around…”Mayberry” Fla. is not only Commercial straight to El Mar Drive…Those on El Mar that have invested millions are longtime owners…..no one could buy and make a profit with an old motel…..frightening…but true!…

“Happy One Year Anniversary VFD”…”They have PERFORMED beyond  anyone’s WILDEST expectations” …Let’s see the many highlights…They allowed Vice Mayor Jerry McIntee to run the whole shebang!…He had no oversight from the get-go…despite assurances from the “worth her weight in gold” Town Manager who told the Town’s residents SHE would be the oversight committee of one!…She did nothing after receiving the letter with serious charges from Battalion Chief Patrick Pointu in Oct. (prev. post)…The VFD stood by and watched as Vice Mayor Jerry McIntee pushed out every qualified firefighter that might give him a run for his money on knowledge and expertise……including Scot Fowler…and too many of the original 90+ to count… The VFD with the full blessing of Commissioner Silverstone  disregarded their own bylaws and made Jerry McIntee the Deputy Chief in an election that still has many who were there and who remain wondering who exactly voted for him when so many deny they did?…The VFD who touted open meetings and transparency closed their meetings to Comm. Dodd and to residents…and at times we hear to members as well….The VFD has black marks on its service with the actions seen from their Deputy Chief…the most aggregate being the May 4, 2009 suicide where as “First Responder” he did nothing! (prev. post)…The VFD has spent money like drunken sailors…with McIntee leading the way despite his claims to the Fl. Ethics Commission he had no involvement with purchases (admitting his involvement from the dais with 1 of the 3 trucks purchased)…And in this article the “Staff Writer” falsely claims “five mainline pieces of equipment, one of which was 102 foot tower ladder truck REQUESTED BY ISO “… there was no request…….and the 102′ ladder truck is virtually useless for the north end condos …the Chief acknowledged it is too heavy and too big to go on the properties ….and we now hear Pompano Beach is going to purchase their own (touted as another reason for the $150,000 purchase)…add to that the Town had no say-so in the McIntee led purchase of the 1989 truck although they  still want the Town to purchase it with no RFP for a reduced price…and it has had multiple incidents of repair requirement…we hear it is in the shop again after a mishap under the Vice Mayor’s training last week (prev. post) when he was cursing the VFD on Pine Ave!…As previously posted this writer was 100% behind the VFD…when and if they follow their bylaws and vote McIntee out…I will be again!………

The equipment…the pumper truck…the reserve pumper truck…the ladder service truck  and ladder reserve truck…..In a town of this size we need 2 trucks and a 3rd would be used as a reserve truck…a 4th truck was not required by ISO…quite a different representation than this one…(one of many such misrepresentations made by the VFD)…3/10/09 Commission meeting-public safety agenda item…being the latest one…

Public Safety Report exchange excerpts….

Commissioner Dodd-” I came and spoke to you a couple of weeks  back and I felt it was something the public should know, that we are getting a truck”…he asked the Chief to elaborate…

Chief Perkins- ” Ah, the truck we’re buying is a pumper. It’s similar to the engine that we bought a while back, Engine 212. It’s going a backup reserve and a training truck and yes it does help our ISO rating. Ah, with equipment, hoses, nozzles etc. It’s gonna be great truck to have another truck. It will be our fourth truck.”

The VM went on to again lead the Chief about the new truck and ISO…

CP-” Ah, yes they were here last week and they wanted to know if it (the truck) was on its way and ah, he he waited long enough to turn in his information. He couldn’t wait any longer so , and he’s gonna  come back on the 19th where he’s gonna do that class here and he’s gonna then check the truck out and make sure it’s what we said it was.”

The VM asked the chief if he had any indication of how it went with ISO and the equipment and such….

CP-” He, um indicated to me we were doing a very good job protecting this town.”

From Brad Bain ” No bonus for extra engines”….”Got 4 engines, need to be able to staff them”….”Sensible for smaller services (towns) to have a reserve ladder truck, probably not.”…”For every 8 engines-1 reserve”…

BC- we now have 4 trucks…and we still do not have a 100 ft ladder truck…which according to ISO is a must to increase a rating…A 100 ft. ladder gives a community a 100% (or the height to the tallest building)…75 ft. ladder…75%….A ladder truck is for 5 or more buildings over 3 stories…BUT…

Brad made this startling statement…(an example not intended to say they will do this for LBTS)…alarmingly strange though…He said that they are a “kinder gentler ISO” “So when you get your report and it says you have a ladder truck,you may look at it and wonder where this guy was”  …The ISO report now says you have a ladder truck when in fact you do not!…Same example was used for a reserve….HUH?….

Asked at the end of the presentation about how many trucks this size town needed it was affirmed 2 and a 3rd could be the reserve..and the 4th we will get credit but it will not improve our rating….( a ladder truck might have done that)…it was not required by ISO…The VM clearly unhappy …(Gotcha)….said it was a positive thing…it couldn’t hurt…that was affirmed by Brad…This writer responded by saying… “That was not the question.”…..The  VFD Chief said the 4th truck was for hurricanes…when it would really be needed…..WHAT?…

Commission meeting highlights… perhaps Editor-Photographer Marc Furth was looking for “sign Language” among his photos of the commissioners with their hands up?…

“He has nothing to hide because people that know him know I don’t do emails”…27 emails to this writer posted……and countless others from other constituents with responses…from  a commissioner with a taxpayer- paid Iphone to boot…Simple solution…..to give him the  boot…..no email…no 2nd term!…

New business….This writer was never “taunting” the Manager as those in the hall and around me will be happy to attest to…The Manager is very thin skinned these days… and she has a strange fear of paper plates that say “MARCH 2010″… Hmmmm…

Who knew that handing out a business card would ruffle the feathers of the Town Manager…perhaps because this “blog” has opened up the RFP responses to those that can save the Town big money…In response…we saw retaliation from the Town Manager with legal costs and costs for the Town of a big black eye…in PR …with businesses who want to come and bid…More will come from this……No matter who you are …when a Town takes sealed bids…slices them open…and takes them away..it looks bad…and any sane Town Manager and straight thinking commissioner would know that and not condone it!…

Try one on for size…when this writer stood at the podium, I NEVER “claims Dodd had executive privilege”…I said all commissioners should be allowed something like executive privilege…You see most people don’t take siestas and stay up until all hours of the night…they communicate through email…to plan and advise just as the many e-mails this writer and candidate Dodd/Clottey  had with Editors Furth…should those be public record…Hmmmmm .. my Yahoo …did not delete automatically them!…

Where have all the By the Sea Times Gone?…… “Fish Stories”….This tactic was used in the last election…along the same lines of “attacks” …”misinformation” and “evil” “out there”…TRUTH be told…it is the Futures that is MIA…found in garbage bins….. and put under old papers…just as it was at the last election…MOE-VIN On….

“What’s a Nice Citizen Like you”…Editor  (possible Mayoral candidate?- Cristie Furth) would have readers believe there should have been an RFP for metal detectors in Jarvis Hall!……It’s hard to watch your CIC numbers drop…Chalk it up to the tides turning……but this calculated fearmongering…is desperation pure and simple…There are no attacks in Town Hall…and this crowd that now fills those seats on both sides of the aisle…compared to the past McIntee-Furth led gang…is like comparing a tide to a tsunami!…

Commissioner Comments…

Clueless Clottey…has again changed the rules for the Town Manager’s  “breached” contract Performance Review evaluation…Now she states the “Range Rider” a retired Town Manager according to the Range Rider site…will not do the evaluation…he will “speak with  the commission first”…at the meeting which the Comm. has wrong…it is at 4pm (not 5pm ) on Monday Oct. 12, 2009 (not the 13th) at Jarvis Hall… At a time and date that was picked to cut down on the input and attendance of those who work for a living!…

Vice Mayor McIntee…is “shocked”…and states “for the first time in his life he is dealing with people who have no conscience”…to that this writer responds …using one of the Vice Mayor’s oft said lines on the dais…”look in the mirror”…Vice Mayor ….. If the TM was named Baldwin…you would be leading the charge!… Talk about a load of bull…”I will no longer accept any e-mails because I now understand they are considered public information”… Time to take him off the dais…Fl. Ethics/Election probable cause…and now breaking the public records laws as well…He is not worthy to sit in office….perhaps the Senior Center computer class could have saved his hide?…

Commissioner Jimmy-Boy Silverstone… quotes Murray Gell-Mann a Nobel Prize winning physicist…who spoke of humanity and complexities…a book bio of Gell-Mann says the following..”The book, like Gell-Mann’s life, divides neatly into three parts: before, during and after physics — or, one might say, history, business and humanity. New turtle lighting in the pavilion…( anyone tell the commission?)…what happened to the turtle friendly lighting in El Prado Park? / Jerry’s Kids…anyone watching knows…there were no takers..for the event..the $4,000 event for mostly out of town kids (per Jerry’s own admission) that shuts down the Senior Center and Jarvis Hall for approx. 2 weeks..Comm Dodd declined knowing he would be put in the uncomfortable position of dealing with the Editors-Event Coordinators Furth…and what the tidbit “teller” left out…was Comm. Silverstone putting out this writer’s name to Chair……and while I declined for the same reason as Comm. Dodd (after all we have both “been there, done that”…Furth wise)…If I could hit rewind…I would have accepted…because the I could have chose the event coordinators…right?…Nah…./Edmund Malkoon announced he will be running…and judging by the incorrect spelling of his name (Moanin-Moe)…it’s still better than Comm. Silverstone calling Ben Freeny…Mr. “Freely”..Now the Tidbit “teller” knows…as does her hubby the VM…Mr Malkoon “graciously stepped aside” to let Michael Powers have a turn…something the VM said himself from the dais in June…OOPS!…We are hearing a great sigh of relief from Bel Air…Terra Mar…the condos…and many residential areas in the south…businesses as well…an 180-McIntee candidate…it’s about time!…/Burning the mortgage…”We are debt-free”…well, huh… did it cost to pay off the mortgage? …YOU BET…big time…$300,000+/ and with 1.6 million in another ( penalty clause) promissory note for  parking …only a CIC politician running for office could discount that as debt!..A look at meeting from last month when the payback was discussed will show Mcintee was against til the very last vote…perhaps he wanted it for a firehouse if there is no grant?… Conveniently missing…thanks to Resident Yann Brandt and Comm. Dodd for letting all the taxpayers FINALLY know the finances we have in this town!…Thanks!…

The BTSTimes receives emails…it’s “inevitable”…just as “inevitable” as the 1st names only …and AOL did not delete them…Imagine that!…

An Open Letter to the Residents of LBTS from this writer and ex-CIC Mc-Gang “Kool-aid” drinker…a look at the open letter to you, the residents from the current Mc-Furth Roberts CIC board will further make you understand that this once important organization members…now wear egg of their faces…IF they are quietly standing behind this board that so blatantly distorts the truth…and continues to discard those that have not changed their positions one iota…from when they lead this “watchdog” group in the days it had credibility…Sad to say…those days were gone for good…when it became the cheerleaders of Mc-Furth style revisionist history propaganda…(“the current maximum height in LBTS is 33 feet”)…

And last but certainly not least…the VFD -Booster Club funds paid full back page…displaying 12 months of Booster Club funds paying for the BTSTimes…Did you know where your donation went?…Now that’s scary!….

THAT’S SOME “SPIN”- IN”  OF THE FACTS…MC-FURTH-SOMETIMES-NON-SENSE-NEWS…

Dear Readers …Sad to report but the theme of the Mc-Furth-Campaign is “DELETE”… and “DENIAL”….The Vice Mayor said on the dais  last Wednesday night  he deleted his e-mails…( prev. post LBTS agendas/ meetings cat.)… and that was only the beginning…in his comments in the new edition of VFD-CIC backed paper from Town Hall East…he says he is going to run on his record…perhaps he is planning to delete that as well!…This writer will help him with that “recovery” just as I helped him with his professed ignorance of e-mails… ( this from the Vice Mayor who once sat on the dais explaining he received a text … the Vice Mayor who on the dais explained how to get the decibel reading on his Iphone…Hogwash)…..

Let’s quickly peruse the Mc-Furth paper …which states below the header…”LOCAL NEWS YOU CAN TRUST”…Hmmmm….really?…Should we “trust” the Editors that show a photo of their “granddaughter”?….The little one is sure cute and proud as they are…the cutie is not their “granddaughter”…so trust em’ …Hogwash….The BSO must have been thrilled to have the Editor stop by for an interview…knowing quite well that the Furths are front and center on getting back the LBTS Police Dept…So trust em’…Hogwash….Lauderdale-by-the-Sea- still affordable…with the cartoon character (at least that was truthful) of the Town Manager…writing that she had a crystal ball…she foresaw the downturn in the economy and scaled back (not on HER salary…nope went up to $160,000+ )…and don’t forget the pre-penalty clauses on those promissory notes …..the purchase of the 2+ million run-down hotel…the stalled and moot on discussion west-side warehouse…and the 10.8% savings…not so fast….check the incessant flock of Town Manager inspired fees..that cannibalize the claim….so trust em’…Hogwash…Town Tidbits is back…(this writer used to do many of em’ for quite a time)…and boy, Moe’s mowin’ em’ down……Yann Brandt is a resident looking into his elected official and if  he had any prior knowledge about a dismissal of the BSO Police Chief, who’s dismissal impacted his town…Moanin’ Moe’s hubby, the Vice Mayor “turned the tables” by asking his opponents …Mayor Minnet and Commissioner Dodd who are now called the Old-Guard …quite amusing!… Is that like being :”branded”?…As for this writer, I’ll take the OG “brand” over the OMG “brand” that stands for OH MY GOD!… for the Mc-Gang…any day!…There’s a big difference Mrs. Mc-Detective…the Vice Mayor asked as Vice Mayor…and according to your “tidbit”…he’s looking for e-mails between this writer and Commissioner Dodd…Now imagine that Readers…a Vice Mayor wants e-mails between a private citizen who does not sit on any boards …owns no business looking for a Town contract and is not a fellow Commissioner…so there can be no Sunshine Law violation…no conflict of interest…Nope, it’s just a sitting official, his wife and their “gang” …”Detectives” all who want to see what email exchanges were made!…And these are the same people who accuse this writer of “taking notes on private conversations”…Commissioner Dodd is going to do what he sees fit….in complying…as for my e-mail exchanges…Have at em’…nothing is there to be concerned about…But why didn’t the Vice Mayor just ask for them…and leave the rest of the e-mails alone?…Planned retaliation for others? …By the way the dates…May 1- Aug. 13th…not Aug.17th…OOPs!…Hmmmm…so trust em’…Hogwash!….The paid ad from the CIC would make one think there are only 3 Commissioners on the dais who lowered the fees……so trust em’…Hogwash….An article by Ken Wardlaw who was quite a prolific in his daily ( throughout the day)  e-mails with this writer for quite some time..(his would be of far more interest for the Detectives)…..is shown in a photo that must be from circa ?…(What is up with many of the Times staff photos…Furth photo-shop)…looks like old fences were a-mended on the project that tore the Editor and the former mayor apart…for quite some time…so trust em’…Hogwash…. Town Commission Report Card…Commissioner Clottey must have been clueless on the re-run of dishing out the bias…for she was furious over the last one and told this writer she informed the Editors she was not amused by the “kindergarten teacher”……Wear that “F” proudly Mayor Minnet and Commissioner Dodd…for that “F” stuck on you from this “gang” …to the voters means you are …. FORTHRIGHT…..FAITHFUL ….FAIR  …..FRIENDLY …. and FURTH-LESS… …so after this 2nd Moe-mockery…trust em’…Hogwash….CIC-Commissioner Comments…Vice Mayor…talkin’ truth…”I don’t send e-mails” …”AOL deleted my e-mails”…”Vice Mayor-Deputy Chief of the VFD”…talkin’ truth..while the VFD By-laws say it is not allowed and  the Town acknowledged…no changes were made….

The Town Clerk’s office asked me to let you know the Town does not have any updated bylaws from the VFD after 10-1-08.

The Vice Mayor’s running  on his record…great…his opponents will see that AOL aka (his alter-ego)-ALIEN ONLINE LIAR keeps from deleting the past 3 1/2 years …so trust em’…Hogwash….

Commissioner Silverstone…Jimmy-boy…boy he’s taken a tumble off that wall…he took a great political fall… fallin’ on the old noggin’ one too many times…his continued “principles”…”promises he makes to himself”…”self determination”…”rules that are fair”…this is “in lock-step”…”BFF” Jimmy-boy…who let the VFD by-laws be ignored…who has increasingly appeared to enjoy his jabs across the dais…with that smirkin’smile…you know that smile Readers…watch for it…it’s the smirkin’ smile that appears on someone who nervously can’t help themselves when somebody breaks their neck…that smirkin’  smile…and his decision to follow his “Broom Boy” buddy full- out into the abyss …”udderly, reedicolussss “…so trust em’…Hogwash!….Commissioner Clottey….writes of John Thompson, former premier writer for the old BTSTimes…back when it offered up some real substance…..quite a hoot in her timing…coming right after the evening before this paper comes out when she and her CIC-  compadres… chose to turn their backs on John once more with their willingness to reintroduce an illegal storm water fee… (Note to John…stay in Pompano Beach)…so trust em’…Hogwash… The “Truth Defector”…tit for tat..on the BTSFuture mistake with the photo of the new BSO Chief…( payback for the Times faux pas headline a while back)…Esther Colon contract…the same..NO WAY…NO HOW… wake up! (previous post…scoops cat./ Bob Baldwin interview)….Baldwin was NOT paid for 10 weeks…check the post…or ask for a PRR (waiting time?/ and charge?)…No performance review for Baldwin…should have been…”McIntee would turn over emails if he had them. McIntee’s rarely uses email. He does not download his email to his computer but goes to his server, AOL to read them. The server deletes his emails after a certain amount of time so the requested emails were automatically deleted. Vice Mayor McIntee has no problem with AOL retrieving the emails if possible.”…Check it out folks…Vice Mayor McIntee was less than 90 days from the request….easy to retrieve…Vice Mayor McIntee knew he was required to be the custodian of his town business related e-mail…so do you really want to re-elect a man who erred in his duty and chose to not protect his records….purposely deleting 3 1/2 years of documentation being observed by all who sit beside him on the dais?….The stranded sailor…sorry …a picture says a 1000 words…no broken mast until the Town cut it up…and ALL bystanders on scene are standing their ground…the VFD did not arrive  quickly and help out the guy…and ain’t it curious that Times Editor and photographer Marc Furth, who arrived on the beach early on…did not put any photos in the paper?…..Maybe they were too… Mast-er-full?…..”Truth -Defector” ending on the Ed.
