Anyone with a kid diagnosed with ADD…is smiling today…feeling a little less “overwhelmed” …and hoping they too can find an outlet that carries their child through to a victorious future….

Reportedly as a child …they took his strong will…and those attributes that the “system” wanted to subdue with meds…and put him in the water….and let him go…

Today you now have a phenomenon….who is 6 foot 4 inches…an arm span of 6 feet 7 inches…eating 10-12 thousand calories a day….wearing the newest in swim wear…that mimics dolphins….and how their “skin” glides through the water…..winning the gold!….

BCbythesea….now if they could only make “political skin”…. requiring quite the opposite…especially here in this little town….it needs to be thick….like armor….capable of dodging bullets….bending multiple pointed arrows and daggers……immune to laser burning glances….and of course mud resistant…..lightweight enough to keep the wearer from sweating it……and like the “traveling pants”…(movie reference here)…..it must be flexible and transferable in order to to pass it on to the latest “traitor”…..HMMM……..

I WANT A CHARETTE….

Now that we know the 5 year plan for LBTS ends this year… a new plan must be implemented by the commission….after the budget is finalized….it’s time to have get our ducks in a row….pull out all those plans from the past sitting somewhere on the shelves…get the boards busy…and return to having charettes….

This writer now questions all the negative…..dismissive rhetoric espoused by those that bent my ear over the past few years….

Being treated with the same verbal attacks…the untruths…..the revisionist history…that was used so forcefully to describe those who were involved in many of the previous LBTS plans on the shelves….I want to see them for myself…for I wonder …..just how much of what these people said about the plans…were really the case…. and suspect quite the opposite might be the truth….the new commissioners….new staff….town boards and residents should have the opportunity to see it all…….for ourselves….

We now have new architects…and engineers…that may be able to offer even more insight…and help us plan out the next 5 year plan…to actually succeed in developing this town…these plans that are just collecting dust could possibly aid in the process….without reinventing the wheel….

BCbythesea….In hindsight the repeal of the Overlay Districts…may have been done too quickly….resulting in a return to 3 stories and not the 3 over 1 that most thought would be the case….including this writer….OOPS!

Now after more than 6 months into this new majority….we are idle…due to the M& Ms & Fs…and their town board….maneuvering…nothing has been done….and no development can happen….and not just because of the economy….because of the 3 story limit….

If it was fully understood that it did indeed return to 3 stories….in this writer’s humble opinion…….it could have been either partially repealed…or a moratorium on certain development enacted as has been done previously in our town…. to give the boards….commission…and staff time to “tweak” what was already there…in the existing ordinances….

This time…lets start in September with making full use of all that is available… the plans…the boards…..residents ….and the staff…for a 5 year plan that might finally be acted on…over the next 5 years no matter who is on the dais in 2010….

What is it with the SFWMD….are they an “Obama- like elitist”…..group or what?…..(just an example not a political statement….relax….)

They make headlines for their jaunty extravagant travels…their expense accounts…….and now they say…. for our own good …..they are being secretive in their deal with Big Sugar and the 1.7+ billion dollar acquisition…HMMM….

Just who appoints these members onto the SFWMD board…….the Governor himself….and they are remaining mum….something is not right…..

They are “miffed” that those who have the most to lose by this sudden acquisition want some answers on how it will effect them and the projects that were suddenly halted…and the towns where they reside that will suddenly dry up… pun intended……

Oil and water…..remaining separate…but sugar and water……mix quite well……..$$$$$$$

On track for a September deadline….the main hurdle….the value of the U.S. Sugar’s complex organizations…and “the district’s governing board also would have to agree to change its borrowing rules to take on more debt to pay for the deal.”….”Bonds backed by the property taxes would pay for the agreement, set to close by Nov. 30.”…..

Budget Shortfall May Hit 1.2 Billion…

“could lead Gov. Crist to dip into reserves or propose more budget cuts….perhaps in September”…YIKES!

BEL AIR HOSTS LBTS-VFD/AMR….

Tuesday night Bel Air had their meeting….to talk entryways…Adopt-A- Street…with invited guest Mayor Minnet…and to welcome and get to know…the new public safety service providers…VFD/AMR….

Commissioner Clottey has been instrumental in asking both to get into the neighborhoods…with community outreach to get to know those residents and where they live….who may require medical attention….regularly….

She first brought the idea to the dais for those in need to be singled out for quick response times from the VFD and AMR…and this community outreach will only add to a more positive relationship between the residents and their new providers in October….when they take over….
